“Shen loves Wei.” Banana Wolf frowned. This was a pair of lovers. Shen was the guy, and Wei was the girl.

“Was it a crime of passion?” Hua Luo lowered his voice, “Maybe Song Jianyou stole Wei’s boyfriend, Shen. After Wei committed suicide, she returned as a ghost to take revenge?!” This was possible.

Banana Wolf stood up and looked around. He had the feeling that someone was watching him. “Take the ring and leave,” He suggested, “We can discuss this after we go back.”

“Doctor,” Fatty stared drily at Jiang Cheng as he swallowed, “Can you eat slower and leave some for me?” He tried to negotiate.

“No.” Jiang Cheng dropped the shell and sighed. He told Fatty sincerely, “Fatty, eating these is not good for your body. Plus… they are not that good.” Jiang Cheng sucked the sauce on his fingers.

“This is the nightmare and not real life,” Fatty pouted unwillingly. They were in his room. Half an hour ago, the Doctor found a box of spicy little lobster on the lowest shelf in the fridge. Then, with glowing eyes, he heated it up and had Fatty cook two packs of instant noodles. He stressed that he wanted them cooked because that was more delicious.

As Fatty cooked the noodles, he stared at the little lobsters before the Doctor. He looked so pained.

A phone call shattered this peaceful scenario.

“Doctor,” Fatty gasped, “The phone is ringing.” Every room came with a landline. A phone book was kindly placed next to it. A well-used pencil was stuck between the pages. The book contained the phone numbers of the twelve rooms. Jiang Cheng wiped his hands and jogged over. The panel showed that the call came from Building Two, Room 404. Jiang Cheng thought about it and called Fatty over to answer the call.

Moments later, Banana Wolf’s voice travelled over. “Mr. Jiang.” The man’s voice sounded strained, like he was worried about something. “Did you not leave to find clues?”

Fatty used the name Jiang Fugui in this mission. He was a truck driver who was not an orphan. Fatty turned to Jiang Cheng, who gestured at him.

“I had a headache,” Fatty explained, “I didn’t sleep well yesterday night, so I came back to pay some sleep debt.”

“So, you’re not with Chu Jiu and Chen Yi, right?” The man sighed in relief.

Fatty answered, based on the Doctor’s direction, “No. I’m in my room alone. They… have left to find the clues.”

Banana Wolf’s breathing quickened. “Mr. Jiang, listen to me. We just visited a mall. It was the place where the ghost in my room worked before she died. We… saw her. Her name is Song Jianyou. She disguised herself as the boss and killed Yu Lan.

“We found a ring on Yu Lan’s body. After we came back, we found more clues in the room based on the information on the ring.”

Banana Wolf spoke hurriedly like someone was urging him. “Listen. Mr. Jiang! We found the attack order for our rooms!

“Yu Lan shouldn’t be the first to die. The first to die should be in your building One, Room 607 in Building One!”

“607?” Fatty’s voice sharpened.

“Yes. Room 607.” Banana Wolf revealed, “It’s Chu Jiu! Chu Jiu is already dead! She is a ghost!”

A chill rose in his heart. Fatty turned to the Doctor and realised something flashed in his eyes. The Doctor’s prediction… came true again!

“Do not leave your room!” Banana Wolf warned, “I’ll bring the evidence to find you. Wan Xiaoning and Hua Luo went to inform the others.”

“Okay.” Fatty nodded, “You have to be careful.”

“Take down this number. We are using two phones. This is mine. We can communicate more easily.”

Fatty wrote down a string of numbers. After confirming it with Banana Wolf, he ended the call.

“Doctor,” Fatty looked at Jiang Cheng. His tone was panicky, “You’re right. That Chu Jiu… She is a ghost! Maybe Chen Yi is also dead!” That would explain why no one died, even though so many people encountered the ghosts on the first day.

Jiang Cheng told Fatty, “Calm down. They are not around us. Why are you panicking?’

“But I feel like they’re coming back,” Fatty whispered as he turned to the door. Chen Yi or Chu Jiu’s voice might come through at any moment.

Based on what Banana Wolf said, the people in Building Two had identified the ghost, or at least the one in Banana Wolf’s room. Her name was Song Jianyou. She once worked at the mall.

The price they paid was Yu Lan’s death. Just as Fatty was about to say something else, someone knocked on the door.

The knocking was light but it was quick. The person didn’t want to make too much noise but they couldn’t hide the anxiety in their heart.

“Mr. Jiang,” A soft summon came from outside. It was Banana Wolf!

Fatty stood up and hurried to get to the door. However, someone was quicker than him. Jiang Cheng yanked him back and covered his mouth. Jiang Cheng stared at the door and frowned slightly.

Fatty instantly became quiet. He looked at the Doctor with open confusion. Jiang Cheng turned to look at the phone. Then, his face darkened.

Banana Wolf sounded anxious. He hissed, “Mr. Jiang, it’s me, Banana Wolf. Please open the door! If Chu Jiu and Chen Yi return, it’ll be bad! Can you hear me?” Banana Wolf urged, “Mr. Jiang, open the door!” His words became a plea in the end.

Suddenly, the phone rang. It was so sudden that Fatty jumped. Staring at the number shown on screen, Fatty slowly understood something was wrong.

A few seconds later, the sounds outside the door disappeared. The phone stopped ringing. They were placed by a long and inexplicable sound of friction. It sounded like someone was dragging their feet as they moved through the corridor.

Fatty could imagine the person walking for three steps and turning back to look. Thankfully, the footsteps moved away before fully disappearing.

After waiting for ten minutes and ensuring there was no more sound, Fatty asked Jiang Cheng in a small voice, “Doctor,” His face was bunched together. He was about to cry, “How… could you tell something was wrong?”
