Chapter 40: Chapter 38: Kidnapped

After bidding farewell to the three of them and leaving Treasure House, Li Si slowly suppressed the overwhelming excitement in her heart and rationally placed the bank card, which had just been transferred funds, into her space.

Young Master Leng and Young Master Long stayed behind to chat with Old Wang for a while longer before getting into their respective cars. Young Master Long didn’t start his car immediately and instead glanced at Leng Er several times, looking as if he had something to say but hesitated.

"Something on your mind?" Leng Er gave him a sidelong glance.

"Hey, you’ve been off today, buddy. Is this how you chase women? Besides, that little girl doesn’t seem like your type! What’s going on?"

"What kind of woman would be my type, then?"

"Well, at least someone like Xuanxuan, right? Tiny waist, curvy hips, sweet and gentle voice—that girl Li Si doesn’t seem to match any of that, don’t you think?" As he spoke, he started the car and headed toward the company.

"Why bring her up?" Young Master Leng instinctively frowned.

"It’s not like I’m deliberately mentioning her. Didn’t you spend years turning all of Beijing upside down looking for her? Why haven’t you brought her up even once since waking up?" Young Master Long gossiped, trying to dig some useful information out of him.

"What’s in the past is past. Since I’ve forgotten it, it’s as good as gone." Leng Er maintained his calm tone.

"Alright, fine. Whatever you say! Hey, what’s going on over there with that crowd?" He wasn’t driving fast, and when he noticed a large crowd gathered on the right, his curiosity was piqued.

"Looks like that girl from earlier. She must be in trouble. Stop the car and back up, now!" Leng Er scanned the scene. Through the crowd, he spotted Li Si struggling fiercely against two men.

"Come on, it might be a trap meant for us!" He doubted it, thinking this area was too well-monitored to cause trouble easily.

"Trap or not, reverse the damn car now!" Young Master Leng shouted anxiously. This was the first time Young Master Long had seen him so worked up recently, prompting him to hurriedly back the car up.

As soon as the car stopped, even before it was fully stationary, Young Master Leng dashed out. Young Master Long hesitated briefly before hopping out as well, clutching the Emperor Green Jade. Concerned about leaving it behind, he wrapped it in his jacket, stripped down to just his shirt, and followed.

It turned out that after leaving the shop, Li Si, feeling ecstatic, wandered around the nearby stalls, idly browsing, before heading to the bustling roadside to hail a cab.

Suddenly, a van screeched to a halt beside her, and two men—one tall, one short—jumped out. The taller, muscular young man aggressively charged at Li Si while shouting, "Wife, don’t be mad at me! I know I was wrong, but come home with me!" Then he grabbed Li Si tightly.

Li Si was both furious and shocked. "Are you crazy? I don’t even know you!"

The shorter, brawny man chimed in, "Come on, sis-in-law, let’s go home. The kid is sick! Don’t make a scene."

"You’re lying! I don’t know you at all!"

Li Si fought back with punches and kicks, struggling against the two men. Despite having undergone bone marrow cleansing and learning basic self-defense, she was momentarily overwhelmed by the two physically imposing men.

The stalemate continued as the two men tried to force Li Si into the van while she resisted with all her might.

"Help! They’re criminals!"

The crowd around them grew larger, and discussions broke out. Some said couples’ disputes were best left alone; others remarked that they didn’t seem like a real family, noting that the woman was dressed too elegantly.

Yet, no one stepped forward to intervene. Li Si’s heart sank—had the world really deteriorated to this level? Indifference and apathy ruled the day.

She recalled reading similar cases online: criminals pretending to be couples or families snatching single women in broad daylight, taking advantage of the confusion to commit robbery or human trafficking.

Even though she had the option to escape into her space, she refused to surrender in front of so many onlookers, choosing instead to fight back fiercely.

"What are you doing?"

Young Master Leng shouted, slightly out of breath.

"Mind your own business! This is my wife, and she’s just angry with me! Step aside!"

The tall man, sizing up the difference in physique, brazenly pointed at Young Master Leng’s nose and barked.

Young Master Leng ignored him, exchanged blows with the two men, and fiercely pulled Li Si away from their grasp. Li Si trembled as she cowered behind Young Master Leng. Despite his thin and frail-looking build, she felt an unusual sense of security and trust at this moment.

Li Si’s nose tingled, and she couldn’t help but shed tears. Though they were strangers, his courage and selflessness made her realize that good people still existed.

"Damn it! Ran into some trouble. Kid, don’t tell me you’re one of my wife’s lovers! I’m warning you, don’t wreck a family—she’s my wife, and we even have a child!"

The tall man persisted, refusing to back down.

Exchanging a glance with the shorter man, he decided to keep acting out the charade.

"She’s my sister! Cut the nonsense. Long Wu, call your buddies!"

Young Master Leng growled at Young Master Long, who had just caught up. Then he firmly held Li Si’s icy hand, giving her some warmth.

"Someone help us judge fairly! This man’s ruining a family and even calling for help! Wife, for the sake of the child, we cannot divorce! What’s so great about this sickly pretty boy? The kid’s still sick, and you’re this kind of mother?" The tall man continued stirring the crowd.

"Sis-in-law, the kid’s had a high fever for three days. Hurry back and take care of him!" The shorter man chimed in.

Some onlookers began looking sympathetic and inserted their opinions. "That’s an awful mother—leaving her sick child to fool around. That guy got out of a nice car; she must be after his money!"

"Totally! Young and pretty women nowadays just want to latch onto rich guys!"

"Doesn’t matter if he’s sickly or not—some women even go after old men with money!"

Young Master Leng’s gaze swept over the crowd like knives, silencing many of the bystanders instantly.

Li Si managed to calm herself and, trembling, responded shakily, "I don’t know them at all. They’re lying! If you won’t help, fine, but don’t say heartless things. What would you do if your loved ones fell for a scam like this and got abducted? Then what would you say?"

"Come on, wife! Let’s go home. I swear I’ll be good to you!"

As he spoke, the tall man partnered with the shorter one and tried to grab Li Si again. Young Master Leng and Young Master Long shielded Li Si, and another scuffle ensued.

Just then, three men came running over.

"What’s going on? Stop it!" A burly man shouted.

"Who the hell are you? None of your business! Get out of here! This is between us!" The tall man straightened his rumpled clothes and shot an annoyed glance at the newcomers.

"I’m your damn uncle! I’m making this my business today! Take them all away!"

With an authoritative command, the other two men pulled handcuffs from their belts and cuffed the tall and short men.

The tall man struggled vehemently, shouting, "Sir, it’s a misunderstanding! We just mistook her for someone else! Don’t arrest us—we’re good guys!" But the officers ignored him, cuffing him tightly.

"Officer, take it easy!"

The shorter man was pinned to the ground and cuffed just the same.

"A misunderstanding? You can explain at the station whether it’s a misunderstanding or not! Take them away!" The burly man sneered coldly.

"Long Wu, mind coming with us to file a report?"

The burly man glanced at Li Si, who was trembling uncontrollably.

"Sure thing! I’ve been curious to see where you, Black Iron Tower, work anyway!"

With that, he drove along with Li Si and Young Master Leng, following the flashing police car ahead, leaving nothing behind but a cloud of exhausted fumes for the crowd.

The onlookers, seeing the two men genuinely arrested by the police, began gossiping about the incident, which quickly became a hot topic for idle chatter in the days to come.
