Chapter 139: She was ignoring him

"You are telling me... they are my great grandchildren?" Old Madam King looked at the puppy and kitten nestled against each other on the corner of the couch.

"Second Master was referring to Young Master Riri and Young Miss Lala when he talked about children," Ji Yan stepped forward to clarify, ’’Earlier when we reached here, both of them had fled to the garden to play so they had to be caught and brought here by the servants."

"Is that true?" Old Madam looked at Ella this time.

Ella nodded, her expressions were a little complicated.

Adrian’s gaze lingered on her.

Old Madam sighed and leaned back on the couch.

The butler came to support her but she dismissed him.

In her heart, she felt a little regretful but when she saw the pair of puppy and kitten, her mood lightened.

Soon, lunch was served.

The atmosphere around the dining table was lively due to Riri and Lala playing around. And Old Madam King also pampered them.

The chef was ordered to prepare exquisite food for each of them.

However, Ella avoided Adrian’s gaze.

And Adrian’s face had gradually turned into a pitchy shade of black.

These little details did not go unnoticed by Ji Yan who was standing at a corner from where he could capture everything.

"Little Ella, do you permanently live in the dorms or do you go back to your parents often?" The old lady’s voice held more warmth towards Ella.

"I mostly stay in the dorms, Grandma.’’

"Do you parents know about and Ian? Though young hearts rarely wait for permission, I imagine they must have thoughts regarding you having a boyfriend."

Adrian’s eyes narrowed.

"_" Ji Yan dabbed his flowery handkerchief on his forehead. Old Madam, if she said that her parents don’t allow her to have a boyfriend, do you think the Second Master would break up with her?

He felt like the Old Lady somehow managed to hit her grandson’s sore spots every time?

Ella paused, "My parents don’t know about us but they are open-minded people. I believe that when I tell them, they will accept our relationship."

"Have they ever spoken to you about your marriage?" The Old Madam probed softly.

Ella blinked innocently, "Grandma, my parents probably haven’t given it a thought, thinking I am too young for marriage."

Adrian’s face darkened.

Ji Yan: "_" Miss Yu, aren’t you suggesting that the Second Master is a hooligan for marrying you back then?!

"That’s true. That’s true. You are in university right now. It’s no age for marriage. There is no rush for it," Old Madam King showed her agreement.

Icicles spread throughout Ji Yan’s skin as one old woman and one young woman talked freely, completely ignoring the sulky devil prince sitting with them.

Just as Ji Yan felt like this conversation was getting out of hand, Old Madam spoke up again, "Ian is no the easiest man to grow close to. How did you first come to know him?"

Ella choked on the shrimp she had put in her mouth, "Cough... Cough..."

Suddenly, a glass of water appeared near her lips and a comforting palm settled on her back, "Careful," a deep voice sounded by her ears.

Old Madam who was motioning the butler to pour water for Ella halted in her movements.

Ella took a few sips of water and patted her chest gently, "Sorry..."

"Eat slowly. Be careful," Under everyone’s shocked gazes, Adrian took Ella’s plate.

In no time, the shrimps were neatly cut into tiny pieces with the help of a fork. Then, the plate was placed in front of Ella again.

"_"

Ella gave him a look.

Seeing that she finally looked at him, Adrian’s complexion seemed better. His eyes twinkled.

Ella was speechless. Hello, sir, I am not flirting with you!

She did not know why but the look on his face told her that he thought so!

In this life, Ella was trying to leave a good impression of hers on Adrian’s grandmother. But with him serving her everytime in her presence, isn’t she going to think that she was making her grandson do chores for her?

With that thought, Ella turned to the Old Lady to apologize but the old lady was looking on at the scene with flowers blooming and bursting around her.

’Hmm, I’ve raised him well, haven’t I?’ Old Lady gave Ella a slow smile, like a cat wo knew all the mice in the house by name.

Ella felt like she even seemed... pleased with Adrian...?

"_" My bad. I overthought.

It seemed like a distant memory now but when Ella was dating Max, she had been to the Hill Estate numerous times. If Max’s mother ever saw him lifting a spoon for her, she would usually scold him and right after she would educate her on how to be a decent girlfriend, and a proper future wife.

Back then, she had taken those pieces of advice seriously. Probably that was the reason she instinctively thought Old Madam King would not like Adrian doing these things for her as well.

But this change seemed natural and made her feel warm for some reason.

The rest of the lunch went smoothly without the Old Lady expressing her curiosity or repeating her previous questions again.

Ella was relieved, for she couldn’t have told the old lady ’I met your grandson when I was dead drunk and depressed one night. I don’t really remember much about that night but I woke up in his mansion as his bride the daf after’!

After lunch, the old lady retreated to her room and asked Ella to rest. As it turned out, the old lady was really fond of little animals so when she left, she took Riri and Lala with her.

Ella went to her ’themed room’. She was just about to lock the door when a broad palm blocked the gap.

Ella was startled. She immediately released her grip on the doorknob.

"What...’’

The door opened and Adrian strode in, closing the door behind him with a ’click’. The man’s tall stature towered over hers and his handsome face zoomed in her view.

Ella opened her mouth to speak but then she closed it, gaping, "You..."

Before she could formulate her words, the man tugged his tie, hoisted her up and captured her lips in a passionate kiss.

All the breath was knocked out of her chest all at once. He kissed her, angry and rough, passionate and soft, gentle and harsh, muddling her mind thoroughly till Ella could no longer comprehend anything.

When he released her, her lips were swollen and her eyes had glossed over.

’’Adrian..."

"Stop ignoring me."

What...? Ella’s eyes opened wide, "I didn’t..."

"You are ignoring me,’’ He spoke again, his words coming out as a statement this time.
