Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession-Chapter 20: Ella is gone
Chapter 20: Ella is gone
’’Where are you going?"
Esther lazily stretched beneath the covers. "Darling, one second! My sister’s in trouble again..."
She pulled the man out of her body, ignoring his groan of protest.
"That woman is nothing but trouble," he muttered. "Always taking advantage of your kindness."
She giggled, trailing her fingers over his jaw. "But she’s my sister, after all."
’’Make it up to me later.’’
Esther jiggled her bare breasts near his face in response, barely letting them brush his mouth and watched as lust clouded his vision. Biting her lips, she picked her phone and walked into the bathroom.
When she checked the text on her phone, her eyes sparkled.
The text read:
’Miss Yu went out for a run.’
A run? Esther frowned.
Since when did that fatty take her body into consideration?
It really seems like you have grown some wings, sis. It’s time for me to cut them off for you!
She locked the door behind her and quickly made a call.
’’Esther, why are you calling so early in the morning? Is everything good?" Max’s concerned voice sounded from the other side.
’’Brother-in-law, sister really needs you right now...’’
’’I don’t care about that unruly woman...’’ freēnovelkiss.com
Esther’s eyes narrowed, ’’I know you are angry with her because of her past actions but things have not been looking good for her either. She is suffering a lot. If she does takes any extreme steps to harm herself then I know you will also be left with regrets...’’
The other side was silent for a long time before the man grunted, ’’Tell me where she is.’’
Esther’s eyes sparkled. Even if Max did not give two cents about Ella’s life and death, he would still care about his family reputation after all.
After hanging up, she quickly texted Adrian. After checking it again and again, she sent it, pleased with herself.
Being the paranoid and keen person Adrian was, he would definitely get her implication and then...
It was over for Ella.
At this moment, on a secluded path surrounding the Eve Mansion, Ella approached a tree and lifelessly slumped under it.
’’I still overestimated my capabilities,’’ she leaned back on the tree like a withered flower.
Her entire face had turned red and her body was covered in sweat. She panted, trying to catch her breath.
Eh, in her excitement, she really did run a little bit too far.
Now, it seemed so difficult to even think about covering such a long distance on her way back.
Ella decided to rest and recover her energy a bit as she leaned back on the tree, letting the cool breeze caress her body.
And after a few minutes, one could hear the sound of soft snores.
Ella fell asleep while leaning back on the tree.
...
It was a pleasant morning but the atmosphere of the Eve Mansion resembled a burning purgatory.
Adrian sat motionless, blood trickling down his knuckles. The coffee table lay in ruins, shattered glass gleaming like ice under the morning sun. His breathing was ragged, his pulse hammering in his ears.
A broken phone laid on the floor along with a flipped couch and shattered paintings.
The phone seemed to have lost its life yet occasionally, it glitched, flashing a long text.
’Sister has been wilful and immature all these years but after talking to her yesterday, I thought she had finally come around. Mr. King, I hate to reveal this to you but I am worried that my sister will be wronged or harmed. The changes in her behaviour are merely a pretense she put up to distract you so that she can elope with Max secretly.
I don’t know why but the way she was talking to me yesterday makes me afraid that she would act on it during these days. I am really concerned about sis so all I can do is reach out to you... She can be a little insensitive but she is not a bad person. Please, don’t blame her for her mistakes...’
Ji Yan swallowed, dabbing his flower embroidered handkerchief on his sweaty forehead. "We dispatched a team five minutes ago."
"How long?" Adrian’s voice was hoarse, barely human.
"She left an hour ago..."
Adrian’s fingers twitched. More blood pooled between them. His red-tinged gaze flickered open, sharp as a blade.
’’I-I will dispatch another team...’’ As Ji Yan spoke, he had already pulled out his phone and tapped onto it.
Two black cars disappeared from the mansion like messengers of death.
"Investigate,’’ Adrian uttered a single word before closing the pair of eyes that looked bloodthirsty.
"Y-Yes...’’
On the other side.
A trail of drool trailed from the corner of Ella’s lips, landing on the grass. Her head nodded off to the side as she snored softly.
’Woof woof!’
"Ah!" Ella jolted awake, head smacking against the tree. Panic shot through her.
She blinked at the small brown puppy licking her toes.
"Where did you come from?" she muttered, still groggy.
But gradually the situation dawned on her and she was immediately awake.
She patted the dust off her body and hurriedly moved to stand.
’Even though things are different now, it was not a good idea to trigger the big devil by staying out of his sight for so long!’
She had just taken a step forward when a small force tugged her back.
’Ah?’ She looked down on the small brown puppy clinging to her.
Ella squatted on the ground and petted its head, ’’How did you end up coming here?’’ It was rare to find a stray in this area.
The small puppy whimpered under her touch.
The soft feeling under her hand made her heart itch a little. This puppy’s fur... was as soft as Adrian’s hair.
Suddenly, her body turned alert!
From the corner of her eyes, she saw it—a familiar black car pulling up at the estate entrance. Her breath hitched.
Max? Why was he here?
Ella’s stomach sank. Something wasn’t right.
Without thinking, she grabbed the puppy and ducked into the bushes to avoid the man.
With this man’s huge ego, he should not have shown his face anywhere around her after their confrontation days ago.
Ella kept feeling like something was amiss. A feeling she could not brush off.
Suddenly...
Her eyes narrowed.
