Ella fell speechless. She felt like this conversation would not go anywhere meaningful yet she could not hold herself back from responding, ’’I am my own person, not an object. I am a human.’’

I was in the wrong for broaching this topic further in the first place! What did I expect from Adrian King?

"That’s not how it should be...’’ Ella trailed off mid-sentence.

She felt a warmth against her neck as Adrian pulled her in and hugged her tightly, nuzzling his chin in the crook of her neck.

Ella’s body turned soft in his arms.

She was shocked.

Was he seducing her on purpose to distract her?

Almost instantly, she denied this possibility.

There is no way Adrian King would resort to such schemes to deal with her. Powerful as he is, he would just drop his verdict and get her locked here forever.

However, the man suddenly started dropping soft kisses in the crook of her neck.

Ella shivered, almost feeling electrocuted.

’’Wait...’’ she pressed her palms against his chest.

As he pulled back to look at her with those narrowed and lazy eyes, she immediately broke free from his grip and stood up.

Feeling the emptiness in his arms and on his lap, Adrian’s face darkened. A pitch black cloud formed over his head.

’’I...’’ Ella faked a yawn, ’’I think I am quite sleepy tonight.’’

The cloud on his head grew in size.

Ella let out a serious of fake yawns as she slowly began to retreat with baby steps, ’’Since you are busy with your work, I won’t disturb you further. We can discuss these things later. But remember to have your dinner, baby!"

Adrian watched as the girl skipped out of the study like a rabbit and the ’baby’ she uttered slowly seeped into the blackish cloud that had formed on his head, transforming it into pink rose petals that slowly cascaded onto him, leaving behind a velvety feeling.

His eyes softened as he looked at the door that slowly closed.

No matter how far you run, I will always catch up to you.

That night...

Ella had trouble falling asleep.

It has been more than a week since her rebirth.

And she had only gotten hold of the outside world today.

She quickly sat up and pulled out the laptop that Adrian had prepared for her.

She did some quick searches to distract herself from her encounter with Adrian in his study but in the end, her mind flew back to the man.

What else? As if that trouble was not enough, she was now being bewitched by the devil!

He almost seduced her senseless on his lap. She was lucky that she snapped out of it in time and realized that sitting on his lap and being kissed by him would not lead to the kind of conversations she was opting for.

Ella closed her laptop and kept it away.

She patted her cheeks and rolled around the bed till her panda printed night suit was completely covered in the blankets and she was tucked in like a sushi with only her head peeking out.

Ella woke up at sharp 5:30 am. She quickly skimmed through her wardrobe and took out the oversized shirt and black joggers.

After putting them on, she headed out.

’’I am going out for a run. If Adrian gets up before I am back, inform him about this.’’

The head servant was stunned. Nevertheless, she addressed Ella with a smile.

’’You must be quite accustomed to me getting up at around noon. But don’t you worry, you will see me at dawn everyday from now on!"

The head servant’s lips twitched violently. As long as you don’t cause trouble, we are fine seeing you, be it around dawn or dusk!

Ella ran out of the mansion.

Nobody noticed a maid standing in the distance, behind a pillar. If Ella saw her, she would have recognized her as the young maid named Rin who was scolded last night.

The young girl fiddled with the phone in her hand for a while before she typed a text and sent it.

"Rin, you are up already?" The head servant approached the girl.

’’Ah, mother. There were mosquitoes... I couldn’t sleep properly so I got up...’’ The girl rushed away.

The head servant was a lady in her mid 30s. Her face showed a trace of confusion, ’’But how could that be... The Eve Mansion goes through rigorous cleaning and pest control. There won’t be a single bug or mosquito around here...’’ she shook her head at her daughter’s clumsiness.

On the other side, Ella greedily inhaled more of the fresh air as she felt the morning energy seeping into her skin. Ah, the smell of true freedom!

She glanced at the towering mansion behind. The mansion in itself was like a small imperial palace in the great Vermilion City.

The distance from the main doors to main gates of the Eve Mansion was almost a few kilometers and the space within it was covered in trees, gardens and long beautiful roads.

Ella’s mood immediately brightened up as she started her run.

A man and woman lay entangled in each other’s arms.

Suddenly, the phone on the bedside table vibrated and the woman on the bed stirred.

The man groaned when the woman moved and he reached out to pinch her nipples, ’’Where are you going?"
