Chapter 38: Adrian never got tired of calling her beautiful

’’Famous, my ass! Her rise to fame was less spectacular than her downfall. She was involved in so many dirty deeds and she had been sleeping around to get her deals! As for how she looks now, hmph! Who knows? Maybe she contracted some disease by sleeping around.’’

’’Heheh~ But I feel like her current looks suit her better. Ugly and fat she is, it is more like a reflection of her soul... ah...!" The man who was speaking suddenly doubled over.

When he tilted his head over, a beautiful red-headed woman came to his view.

"Goddess...’’ he mumbled, a little dazed.

Ella, who was leaving the scene as if the person they were discussing had no business with her, halted in her tracks upon Ruby’s arrival. A gleam of amusement flickered in her eyes.

Ruby frowned and retracted the foot that kicked the back of the man’s knee, ’’My bad. I am bad at philosophy and I hate it when people get all philosophical.’’

The rest of the people exchanged glances and let out relieved breaths.

So, the imperial goddess Ruby was not pissed off because they were dissing Ella but rather, she was just annoyed by the guy’s over-philosophical phrasing?

It made perfect sense to them. As the most beautiful girl in the university, Ruby was cold and aloof, untouched by mere mortals and she stood high like a mighty wild rose.

And apart from that, she was highly unpredictable. People wrote countless love letters to her and she would not bat an eye.

Even in the university controversies, she stayed detached yet to think that she would easily get ticked off by flowery and life-reflective words that were perfectly acceptable coming from her.

When Ruby crossed the people and walked in the direction of the classroom, a huge shadow moved almost in a blur.

Ruby turned alert and planned to dodge but it was too late as the person ended up pouncing on her.

’’Ruby... Ah...!" Ella had just jumped for a hug but she overestimated her control over her body.

With Ruby’s instant reaction, and Ella’s uncalculated pounce, both the people tumbled to the floor.

Under the shocked gazes of everyone, their Imperial Goddess, their untouchable wild rose, was not just touched but even crushed under a gutsy fatso.

The guys in the hallways bit their fists, reining in their grievances while some of the jealous girls relished in Ruby’s misery.

In a distant corner, there was a flash that went unnoticed by everyone in the chaos.

Ella opened her eyes and looked at Ruby, her face apologetic, ’’I really did not mean to...’’

Mid-apology, she trailed off realizing that Ruby’s complexion was a little pale.

"Oh, I must have crushed you!" She immediately rolled to the side.

Good for them that both were dressed in pants.

Ella had worn a super oversized hoodie paired with black leggings while Ruby had a more formal look with her top, dark pants and trench coat.

The moment Ella tumbled off from Ruby, she calmly sat up and patted off the dust on her body, her face gradually recovering color.

Ella tried to sit as well but her body tumbled back down.

The entire corridor erupted in wild unhinged laughter.

If it was her in her previous life, she would have straight away turned around and left.

Then, with her crippling insecurities creeping in, she would have locked herself in her room and refused to come out.

Such emotional lows were the days when she did not eat anything and skipped all her meals.

And the moment she recovered from the humiliation after a few days or weeks, she would have gone binge eating all unhealthy food like a starving beast.

But after dying once, the Ella now was no longer concerned about such trifles.

The laughing people in the corridor seemed like kids.

And her weight, her body type, her looks were no longer the center of her concern.

So what if she was fat? Weight can always be lost! And she would soon achieve a healthy weight.

She believed that for the people who are indeed heavy or on the meatier side like her, if they felt comfortable in their skin then they did not need to bother about losing weight or what anyone said at all!

Moreover, what else? Ugly!

So what if she was ugly? Adrian never got tired of calling her beautiful, did he?

Beauty was in the eyes of the beholder. Those who will cherish you will cherish you for who you are.

Ahem... the cherishing should not be as domineering as being Mr. King’s little canary though cough cough...

Just thinking about it, Ella realized how basic these things were yet in her previous life, she had never looked at things from this perspective.

Amidst the roaring laughter, Ella remained lying on the floor for another moment to recover her breath before she eventually moved.

As Ella propped herself on her elbows to push herself up, a fair and delicate hand reached towards her.

Suddenly, there was pin-drop silence in the entire hallway.

Ella glanced at the hand in a daze for a moment.

And somehow the past and present blended. Looking at the fair, soft and unblemished hand, the memory of a bleeding, blistered and terribly scarred hand flashed in her mind.

A pang of pain shot in her chest.

In the eyes of the outsiders, Ella was being reluctant to take Ruby’s hand.

They glared at the audacious girl in question. They did not even have the chance to touch their goddess but this pretentious fatso was actually putting on airs!

Ruby paused for a moment before she retracted her hand.

But before she could fully retract her hand, chubby fingers grabbed it tightly.

’’Ah, thank you! I don’t know what I would have done without you,’’ Even though Ella said so, she discreetly pressed her other palm on the floor and pushed herself up, afraid of dislocating Ruby’s delicate hand.

And then, suddenly—

Under the shocked gazes of everyone, Ella stroked Ruby’s hair gently, ’’What an angel!" Then she entered the classroom, completely unfazed.

The onlookers: "_" Was... Was their goddess being sabotaged right in front of their eyes?

Ruby: "_"

Behind a wall in the distance, Esther glanced at her phone in glee.
