Ji Yan snuck a peek at Adrian’s face which had darkened even further and he quickly spoke up, ’’Miss Yu, if you want, I can help you deal with them.’’

Adrian tilted his head, his face gloomy as he glanced at Kade who was half curled against a chair like a struggling monkey, ’’Charming?"

Ella smiled, ’’It’s because they haven’t seen you, baby. Or they would have been immune to such meager charms.’’

Adrian looked away from the object of observation,’’Mmm.’’

Kade wanted to cry but no tears came out of his eyes.

These people... Did they forget that he was sitting right there?

Didn’t Ronan tell him that these two never got along? Didn’t they all say that Ella desperately tried to hurt his brother in every way? She even attempted to run away from him, time and time again?

Suddenly, Ella looked at him and a chill crawled down his spine. If he simply had a bad feeling before, right now, he was completely dreadful.

He tilted his head to the side and looked at Kade, ’’How much time is left before your final exams?"

Kade shivered, "A-About 4 months.’’

Adrian glanced at Ji Yan.

’’Yes, second master?"

’’Arrange private tutors for him. And make other necessary arrangements. If he doesn’t make it in the Top 50, then permanently discard all his cards. Let him redo the entire year.’’

When Kade left Eve Mansion, fragments of his soul had already left his body. And he was only an empty shell who could be blown away by a gust of wind.

Ella clicked her tongue internally. The punishment was real punishment huh! It was good that such a punishment was not directed at her.

But she did not pity Kade much. This seemingly uncaring playboy who was hovered around his elder brother cutely 24X7 would actually become a different person in the future.

In her dreams, Kade had taken over all the control in King Empires when Adrian had fallen into a coma. But Ella did not know whether her dreams could be trusted.

Even then, those dreams were not far-fetched. In her previous life, she was not deeply involved in the political scene of the King Family.

But for a fact, she knew that Kade’s marriage with Jasmine was a political one, to strengthen him. And many people in the main mansion were eager to overthrow Adrian’s position as the heir.

And back then, the interactions between Adrian and Kade barely spoke. Except for perfunctory greetings, there was not much. But now... Adrian was punishing him over grades? Appointing tutors? It might not seem like it at first but Adrian cared for his little brother.

Even if this brother of his might grow up to scheme against Adrian during his most vulnerable time.

Hence, Ella totally did not pity Kade for his current situation. He better stay straight in this life of hers or she wouldn’t mind lending a hand in straightening him up for Adrian.

"Cough... Coughhhh..."

The sound was so exaggerated, she blinked out of her thoughts and turned.

Ji Yan was dramatically clutching his throat like a man dying of pollen.

"My throat... must be the weather," he muttered, eyes darting everywhere.

It was only then did Ella realize that her hand was moving.

She turned her head to the left.

At some point, Adrian had loosened his grip on her hand. And the positions of their hands had flipped. Right now, she happened to stroke Adrian’s palm as if she was caressing Riri’s fur.

Ella paused and slowly retracted her hand. With her face growing warm, she buried herself in the breakfast.

Halfway through, Ella paused and looked up, ’’You told me Ruby is safe... But where is she now? Did you send her back to her home?"

"That..." Ji Yan hesitated.

Ella stopped her movements and glanced at him, ’’Where is she?"

Ji Yan snuck a peek at Adrian but seeing that the man did not seem to have any intentions to hide it, he spoke up, ’’She is at Dr. Knight’s place.’’

"What?" Ella’s spoon dropped onto her plate, ’’Why is she there?!"

The answer never came.

Elsewhere in the city, under the burning sunlight of noon, a woman opened her eyes and squinted slightly.

A vast expanse of beige greeted her and then her eyes slowly registered to the lavish bedroom. The unfamiliar surroundings made her eyes widen.

Ruby shot up on the bed and looked around. The room was completely empty.

She lowered her head and glanced at the white shirt that she was wearing. She tugged at the oversized shirt and her brows tugged together.

When Ruby went out of the room, she heard some noises in the distance.

She followed the source of the noise and made it to a huge elegant living room.

On the couch, a man was seated with a laptop in front of him.

’’If I am not wrong about it, you saved me yesterday." Ruby’s voice came out surprisingly hoarse, ’’Can you tell me where my friend is...’’

Her words lodged back in her throat when the man turned around.

Ronan quirked his brow, ’’Surprised much?"

Ruby took a step back, ’’You... Is this your place?"

"What do you think?"

Ruby’s lips parted.

Ronan pushed himself to his feet and walked towards her, ’’Miss Ruby Ambrose, don’t you think you owe me an explanation?"
