As an orphan, Ronan didn’t really have a proper birthday until he was picked up by the King Family and the day they took him in became his birthday.

That birthday happened to be a month ago. The entire day, he hung out with Kade. And by night, he was too wasted to return to a condominium.

While Kade left with his driver, Ronan ended up at a hotel room. He had almost passed out when there was a knock on the door.

And for once, Ronan’s years of medical studies did not help him in thinking of a befitting reply.

Taking his silence for reluctance, the woman had calmly continued speaking, ’’Take my number and reach out to me later. I will surely pay you.’’

Helpless and speechless, Ronan shook his head, ’’I don’t need money. Last night, we were both too drunk to realize it..." When he looked at her, he was not taken in by her beauty again.

The woman looked at him expressionless, ’’Thank you for the compliment. I am 27.’’

Ronan sighed in relief, ’’Are you from Vermilion City only?"

After that, all thanks to the little witch that Adrian was raising in his mansion, Ronan ended up heading to the Main Mansion. And he was busier than ever.

Eventually, he put the affairs of that night to the back of his head, never expecting to see this woman again.

Until that particular day when he was forced to drop Ella at her university.

"I really should thank her huh...’’ Ronan mumbled.

Ruby looked at him with a small frown, ’’Why is it you?"

"What do you want me to say?"

Ronan laughed in disbelief, ’’You... 27 years old? Not from Vermilion City? Here for work?!"

Ruby lowered her eyes, appearing thoughtful for a moment, ’’So... you know?’’

And what was ironic was that the man she was engaged to was none other than the man Ella was obsessed over.

’’You tricked me! Don’t you have anything to say?"

Ruby looked at the man, calm as still water and then she said. ’’You were easily tricked."

Ronan narrowed his eyes, ’’Are you not going to say that you did not want to trick me but rather it was a misunderstanding?"

’’It was intentional. To make things convenient,’’ Ruby deadpanned.

That irked him more than he expected.

"And you’re not going to explain? Or apologize?"

"We’re strangers," she said flatly.

Ronan let out a dry laugh. "Strangers who slept together."

"It was an accident."

"An accident that conveniently happened the night you got engaged," he muttered, more to himself than her.

Ronan quickly checked his pulse, the suffocating tension making it hard to breathe.

Before Ronan could press her further, chaos knocked, literally, at the door.

The doorbell rang twice. Then thrice. And it kept continuing until Ronan was finally forced to move.

When Ronan opened the door, his blood pressure hiked, ’’What are you doing here?"

Ella nudged him out of the way and walked straight off to Ruby.

Then right after, Adrian entered, with his hands tucked inside his pocket and the huge place seemed to shrink in size at his arrival.

Following him, Ji Yan entered with a ’little master Riri’ in his arms.

In no time, Ronan’s elegant and grand penthouse had turned into a henhouse.

’’Why did you bring my friend here?"

Ronan was speechless, ’’My house. My wish!"

Ella glared at him and twirled Ruby in front of her.

When Ruby looked at Ella, her face was still emotionless but her gaze was softer than before, ’’I am fine.’’

Ella sighed in relief and hugged her arm, ’’It’s great that you are fine...’’

Ruby was about to respond when she felt a razor sharp gaze cut to her. She turned her head and glanced at the man who was aloofly sitting on the couch.

Her eyes narrowed.

Adrian’s face darkened.

Unaware of the invisible live wires dangling open in the air, Ella dragged Ruby with her, ’’Come with me. I need to talk to you!"

When he watched Ella leading Ruby like she owned the place, Ronan could no longer hold it in, ’’You don’t even know where the rooms are. Wait... This is my place. Where do you get the confidence to walk around so wildly from?"

Adrian tilted his head to the side and glanced at Ronan, ’’From me.’’
