Chapter 56: Paimon, the dragon.

It was the next day, and Jared was just waking up from his slumber.

Throughout yesterday, he spent it trying to figure out which houses would need to be taken down for new buildings to come in once the workers were done with the construction.

Going over and just breaking houses that belonged to people didn’t seem right, so he decided it was best to allow the family or the workers to decide if they wanted it or not.

Although there was no doubt they’d take it the first chance they got.

’Another day, huh... tsk, waking up poor and in a mud house has to be one of the worst feelings ever.’

He blinked.

’I wonder if Lucy is back now.’

With a calm face, he sat upright to get up from the bed when he spotted the little girl lying on the ground reading a book.

She didn’t seem all that like a kid; well, if you were to ignore everything else about her, one might consider her a kid due to her overly small stature.

But once you consider the other out-of-the-ordinary parts of her, you start to see the clear picture.

For starters, there was a ring dancing over her head, and she was wearing a blue gown... a gown that looked to have a life of its own.

Was this another pig messenger here to tell him about the gods watching him?

Jared sighed...

"Look here, I’m not going to sign any other contracts with you. The last one didn’t work in my favor, so I don’t care what you do."

"Oh, you’re awake—"

The girl turned around, sitting like a guru with the book resting between her laps.

"You were asleep, so I hoped to help myself to some entertainment, and then I stumbled upon this. I must say, a book about leadership; it’s quite interesting."

Jared immediately took a look at the book and realized it was the novel he was writing, keeping tabs on everything he was doing since his reincarnation.

"Although it doesn’t seem to be complete, so I found myself having to read it over and over again. Perhaps you have the other part I can—"

"What is a messenger doing reading my stuff without permission?" Jared glared. "And how come you look different from before? Did you go through evolution or something?"

The girl almost seemed offended by that comment.

"Sigh! I guess there’s no helping it; you did grow around humans with low IQ, no different from monsters."

"—what?"

"Look around you. What is missing in your room right now?" The girl tilted her head to the side, one hand grabbing the book, the other pointing at a specific place.

Jared now realized what had happened.

"You’re the blue dragon..."

"Correct."

"You’ve healed?"

"Your treatment healed me. However, I find the process quite strange."

"..."

"..."

"Have I mentioned I was the one that saved you?"

"I—I am well aware of that."

"Good!"

Jared stood up from the bed, stretching his body.

"So what now? Are you going to head back to where you came from and never bother me again? Or...?"

"Hmph!" The girl looked to the side with disgust. "How rude to not ask for my name."

Jared immediately threw her a deadpan look.

In truth, he wanted nothing to do with a dragon. Especially one from a race that once ruled the entire world.

From the little knowledge he had, he knew there were multiple types of dragons.

The type that ruled both the sky and land, and also had the ability to change forms, were called the Primordial dragons.

They were powerful, the true definition of a fearful bloodline.

Not only were they also immortal, but they were also considered to be just as powerful as gods. Which was crazy when you come to think of it.

Having a primordial dragon in your room was anything but safe.

Jared knew this—which was why he saved the dragon in order not to cause an issue for himself in the future.

"What is... your name, oh powerful dragon?" He asked reluctantly.

"I find your tone upsetting."

Jared forced a smile.

"Oh dragon, please bless me with your name?"

"Keke~ very well, if you insist."

’Just say it and leave my village.’

"I shall introduce myself—" the dragon placed one hand on her chest, "My name is Paimon Dragona, the sixth heir to the throne and daughter of the Dragon god. You should be honored to have me in your presence."

Paimon Dragona?

Pfft!

Jared quickly covered his mouth in order not to laugh out loud.

But it was too late; Paimon already noticed it, and she didn’t look to like it very much.

"Are you laughing at me?"

The urge to reply with, ’Are you blind?’ gripped Jared by the throat, but he sure as hell didn’t want to die that morning.

So—he adapted.

Cough! Cough!

"Sorry, my throat felt dry for a sec there—what were you saying?—Cough! Yeah, your name is great, the best." He gave a thumbs up.

Paimon could not even tell if the man before her was mocking her or was just an idiot altogether.

"Are you not going to tell me your name?"

Seeing as Paimon had taken an interest in him, Jared knew this wasn’t going to end any time soon.

[Many gods have taken an interest in the Primordial dragon.]

[A new god that has chosen to hide their name has joined your channel.]

Jared sighed internally and then sat back down on the bed.

"Jared Hunter." He responded calmly.

For some reason, a smile was plastered on the dragon’s face, like she was just waiting for him to say his name.

Pfft hahahah!

"How dare you try to laugh at my name when you have a name like that? Hunter?!"

She rolled on her belly, practically almost covering the entire room.

Jared remained there, completely stoned and puzzled. This was supposed to be an all-powerful dragon?

If she could be this petty, then he truly had to be careful of what he says, or he might end up causing the destruction of his own village.

After a while of letting the childish dragon laugh till her heart’s content, Jared finally asked a question.

"Why exactly did you come looking for me? Correct me if I’m wrong, but you said I was the only one who could help you."

If she was going to stay, he was going to make the best of it by getting information out of her.

"Hmm, that’s strange; I was sure father said the chosen ones will know when we meet." Paimon whispered to herself.

’What is she talking about?’

Paimon now stared at him, reading his body with her eyes glowing.

For a second there, he thought she was going to eliminate him with her eye beam.

Did he upset her by asking that question? Jared was confused.

Ignoring her overpowered abilities even though they were concerning, Jared picked up on the one thing he never expected to see.

[Loyalty: -100%.] freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Throughout history, dragons have never been known to be loyal to anyone. Well, anyone except three people.

The dragon god, their parents, and their dragon Master.

No one else outside of these three could make them loyal. Dragons do what they want, when they want.

Now Jared wasn’t the type to think the world revolves around him, but right now—could it be that he was somehow supposed to have been chosen by this dragon?

Bam!

Paimon slammed her feet to the ground after standing to her feet. Both hands resting on her waist.

"I’ll be honest and admit it. This situation is far too confusing for me to handle. After running some tests, it turned out I wasn’t wrong; you are the one. Although I do not know why you can’t recognize me like every master does their dragon, I’ll take it upon myself to explain."

’Does this mean I am her master then? Nah, that would be too convenient in this situation. It has to be something else.’

"You, Jared, the one chosen by the gods of the realm, are my master."

His jaw dropped at the revelation.

"Once dragons reach a certain age, we start to see things called visions. These visions guide us to the one we are supposed to serve. Without a master, we cannot evolve into our true form.

I’m sure you’ve realized where I am going with this. You are the one I saw in my vision. Even as we speak, my mana seems to bow before you; a dragon’s mana cannot be tamed by a mere human. As such, you are indeed my master."
