Like worms, these spiders swarmed up the walls with incredible speed, reaching the soldiers at the top in moments.

"Protect Lord Ronandt!" the sword-wielding soldiers roared, charging into the black tide of the spider army.

Their sharp longswords struck the spiders' bodies, making sounds like metal hitting metal. These spiders' carapaces were surprisingly tough!

Screech... Splat...

The soldiers at the front, once injured or exhausted, were instantly overwhelmed and devoured by the spiders, reduced to piles of clean-picked bones.

The remaining soldiers gasped in horror. Normally, seeing such a gruesome sight, they would have turned and fled.

But now, with adrenaline coursing through their veins, they no longer knew what fear was. Many, though grievously wounded, continued to fight bathed in blood, no longer even feeling the pain.

This was because in states of extreme excitement and agitation, senses like pain are suppressed.

While it helped temporarily, after the battle ended, that pain would return, magnified manifold.

But... no matter how fiercely they resisted, humans were ultimately no match for the sheer numbers of the spider army.

The defensive line was quickly breached. Even the catapult operators and crossbowmen were slaughtered on a massive scale.

Soon, the spider army spotted the old man in the distance, single-mindedly constructing his spell. The magical power emanating from him filled them with deep dread. Many spiders began to charge towards the old man, trying to destroy his spell construct.

"Quick! Protect Lord Ronandt!" The soldiers, disregarding their own safety, rushed towards Ronandt.

His brow was furrowed in concentration, large beads of sweat dripping from his forehead. Clearly, the spell wasn't ready yet!

By now, tens of thousands of spiders had already climbed over the city walls and were steadily advancing towards Ronandt.

Any soldier who tried to block their path was instantly consumed by the horde. In less than half a second, they would be reduced to a meticulously cleaned skeleton.

Dozens of spiders lunged at the seemingly defenseless Ronandt. Although Ronandt was aware of their approach, he remained as still as a mountain, focused on completing his spell. Seeing this desperate scene, many soldiers collapsed to the ground in despair.

After the Hero's arrival, the Lord of Flamebright City also appeared in time, leading ten thousand soldiers and household retainers to the front lines. It was only due to the influx of these two forces that they barely managed to hold back the spider army's offensive.

"The Lord?" Elliot, who had been blending in with the adventurers, looked towards the Lord's direction.

"What is it waiting for?" If that Queen Spider made a move, even these granite walls would likely crumble in an instant!

But she showed no intention of attacking, instead using her mental power to scan the city, as if searching for something.

Though it was strange, Julius didn't dare dwell on it. Right now, while the Queen wasn't attacking, they had to kill as many monsters as possible.

When the Queen did attack, it would undoubtedly be a cataclysmic event. They would have even less of a chance then.

"So terrifying!"

"The City Lord himself is overseeing the battle! We still have a chance to survive, right?"

"Look! Lord Ronandt is about to unleash his ultimate attack!" Suddenly, someone shouted loudly.

Hearing this, everyone tensed up, breaking out in a cold sweat, their excitement palpable.

Julius gripped his longsword tightly. He had successfully killed dozens of spider monsters by imbuing his sword with fire.

He discovered these spider monsters were indeed very afraid of flames.

And a flame-imbued sword cut through them like butter. But even though he had tried his best, he had only killed 68 of them, far less than a hundred.

Against the spider's hundred-thousand-strong army, that number was a mere drop in the ocean. Only a mage could inflict devastating damage on the spider army!

Hope surged in everyone's eyes. Lord Ronandt's ultimate... is it finally ready?

The spider army also quickly realized something was wrong.

Several of the giant spider monsters actually tried to shoot two strands of silk, attach them to the city gate, and launch themselves like catapult projectiles towards Ronandt!

They knew that if this spell was completed, something terrible would happen.
