Chapter 121: CH 121: Perhaps a god?
The man’s words dripped with sarcasm as he spoke, "Well, you must be the guy that those two women were waiting for. You came very late, man." His voice was filled with amusement, and taunt.
Dave’s eyes narrowed as he heard his words, his mind had started racing with different thoughts. "What do you mean?" he asked with a firm voice, his gaze piercing the man’s smug expression.
The man’s smile grew wider, and Dave’s instincts screamed that something was wrong. He swiftly accessed his system, checking the location of Ella and Sun. His heart sank as he saw that they were already in a location far from where he was, the distance between them stretched out like an insurmountable chasm.
Dave’s anger flared, his brows creasing in a furious scowl. He turned to the men with his voice rising in a thunderous shout. "What did you do to them?!" The words hung in the air, heavy with menace, but the three men remained unperturbed, their expressions calm and collected.
Their relaxed demeanor was unnerving, and Dave could sense the confidence breaming within them. Perhaps it was because of their ability to tame beasts. Dave could see that all five beasts had been tamed by these men, so just like him, they had the ability to tame beasts as well.
At that moment, one of them had spoken up, his voice dripping with condescension. "Sorry lad, but you’re never going to see those girls again. Your only option now is to become a servant to us."
Dave’s response was laced with incredulity. "Why should I become your servant, are we in the 18th century?" he asked, his tone biting with sarcasm.
The man’s smirk faltered for a moment, before he regained his composure. "You’d do well to show some respect," he warned, but Dave’s anger only grew, fueled by the man’s arrogance.
Right now, he felt like punching the man’s head inside out. But before he did, he could hear another one of the men started to speak.
The man’s eyes gleamed with conviction as he spoke, "Don’t take this the wrong way boy, we’ve been chosen. We’re the future of the new earth, and we are to start by ruling this desolate world. With our powers to dominate and control beasts, we will conquer all and become the leader of this new world." His voice rose, filled with an unshakeable certainty. "The gods have bestowed us with this ability and we will use it to put this new world into order!"
Dave’s frown deepened, his skepticism evident. "And does that mean you have to make everyone else your slaves and servants?" he asked, his tone laced with disdain.
One of the men nodded, his expression unwavering. "Yes, our master will get rid of everyone else with powers and we will rule as the only ones since we have the power to change this world and also to bring balance to it. So being a servant to us, is a privilege, and the only privilege you can get other than death."
Dave’s response was immediate and scathing. "That’s ao stupid," he said, letting out a deep, frustrated sigh. He shook his head, his eyes rolling in exasperation. "From what I know, the world will soon perish, yet, you guys think it’s a blessing from the gods." He turned around, his right arm resting on his hip, as he let out another sharp sigh.
"The gods are up there watching, but they can’t do anything to stop this calamity that is slowly destroying our world," Dave said, his voice heavy with annoyance. "Yet, you guys keep on thinking you’re doing the right thing? That you’re balancing the world? A perished world?" His words dripped with sarcasm, and the men’s expressions faltered, their minds struggling to understand what Dave was talking about.
What god? Which world was perishing? They stood there frozen, their faces a picture of confusion as they watched Dave speak. They exchanged bewildered glances, clearly at loss for what he was talking about.
It was only then that one of them had finally broken the silence. His voice was filled with irritation. "What the heck is this fella rambling about?"
Another man sneered, his expression twisted in disgust. "I think it’s high time we feed him to the beasts, I don’t think he’ll worth being a servant to us. I hate those that talk a lot, they bring bad luck." The other two men nodded in agreement, their faces set in cruel smiles. frёeωebɳovel.com
Without warning, the three men began to control the beasts in front of them, their eyes flashing with malevolent intent. "Attack!" they commanded, their voices rising in unison. The five beasts responded instantly, charging towards Dave with deadly precision. Their massive bodies pounded the ground, their fangs bared in snarling snouts.
But just as they were about to reach Dave, something strange happened. The beasts halted in their tracks, their purrs growing softer as they closed their mouths and stopped their attack. Then, in a bizarre reversal, they turned around and bared their fangs at the three men.
The men’s faces turned white with panic. "Wh...what is happening?!" one of them stammered, his voice trembling with fear. "The beasts, they aren’t attacking him, they’re about to attack us!"
The realization dawned on them, and their eyes widened in horror as they realized they were no longer in control of the beasts.
"Ahh, please don’t come near us! Please stop them!" They all shouted. They started taking different steps backwards, their eyes wide with fear as they clung onto each other.
Dave’s voice dripped with sarcasm as he spoke, "What happened? Why are you guys so scared?" He raised an eyebrow, with a mocking tone. "Are you not the ones that said you would dominate the world? Why are you shouting now?"
At that moment, Dave had stopped the beasts from moving forward, and instead he had walked forward. It was then that the men could eventually speak up.
"H-how are you able to tame our beasts?" One of them said, stammering.
Another man’s voice trembled as he added, "I think he can tame beasts like us too."
A third man’s face turned pale, his eyes darting between Dave and the beasts. "But that’s not supposed to happen even if he can tame beasts. You can’t tame a beast that another beast tamer already tamed."
The others realized just how true his words were, and then a question had raised in their minds. "Just who was this person?!"
As they stared at Dave, their minds racing, they suddenly flashed back to all his previous words. His words about the world’s destruction, and his constant mention of gods. A realization dawned on them, and they asked in unison, "Are you perhaps a god? The one who gave us our powers?!"
Dave’s response was a soft, low chuckle. "Yes, I am a god, and I’m going to show you just what a god like me is capable of doing." As he spoke, the air seemed to shimmer and ripple.
Intermediate beasts, previously slain by Dave, began to materialize out of thin air. They came out of his void space and started dropping to the ground. Instantly, their eyes had fluttered open, as they rose to their feet, a low growl escaping their lips as they gazed at the prey before them.
