Chapter 88: CH 088: Dave & Tasha (Part 2)
Tasha walked behind the hybrid, her footsteps echoing through the laboratory’s walls as they headed inside. They entered a large room, and the hybrid had gestured for her to take a seat. Tasha sat down, after watching the hybrid leave. But she couldn’t help but scan through the room she was in, while patiently waiting for White to appear.
The room was awfully quiet, until suddenly, she heard a sound coming from somewhere. Her gaze wandered as it drifted towards the television screen mounted on the wall. It flickered to life, casting a pale glow over the room.
At first, Tasha’s attention was divided, her mind preoccupied with her meeting with White. But as images began to play on the screen, her curiosity was piqued that she had to look. She saw a figure she recognized - White. He was standing in a room filled with people in white lab coats, their faces were serious as they focused on what was before them.
Tasha’s eyes narrowed, her interest piqued. She was able to guess that the people surrounding White were also scientists like him. The video continued to play, revealing more about the scene unfolding before her.
At that moment, White could be heard speaking in the video, his voice echoing through the room. "Experiment 46 of turning an ordinary human into a hybrid. I will now proceed to inject the altering serum into the subject’s body." Tasha’s eyes were fixed on the screen, her gaze drawn to the teenage girl strapped to the stretcher.
The girl’s eyes were wide with fear as she struggled against her restraints, but the scientists held her down, their faces impassive. White’s hand moved into view, the needle glinting in the light as he injected the serum into the girl’s body.
The girl screamed, her voice echoing through the speakers of the Television. Tasha watched and she couldn’t help but feel the pain the girl was going through. At that moment, the scientists had stepped back, their faces filled with anticipation. The girl’s body began to shake violently, her limbs flailing against the stretcher.
"Grrraahh!" A growl like scream escaped from her mouth as she felt something changing within her body. Her bones were breaking and her body was modifying into something she couldn’t understand.
Tasha’s eyes were glued to the screen as the girl’s body started to change. Furs emerged from her skin, claws sprouted from her fingertips, and her pupils narrowed like that of a beast.
However, something was off. The transformation wasn’t uniform. One half of the girl’s body was fully beast, while the other half remained human. Tasha’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at the screen, her mind reeling with the implications. What kind of experiment was this? And why had it gone so wrong?
The video continued to play, and White had uttered another word, his voice cold and detached as he speak, "Experiment 46, Fail!" And without hesitation, he raised a gun and shot the girl in the head, her jerking body had instantly become still.
Tasha’s eyes widened in horror as she gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her, her mind reeling with the implications of what she had just seen.
Memories flooded back, and Tasha’s thoughts turned to her conversation with White. He had offered to help her deal with Dave after she told him about him, and she had unwittingly accepted his offer. She had no idea that this was what he was planning to do when he said he was going to get rid of him.
Then Tasha had decided to speak, her words filled with anger and fear. "Is that what he did to Dave? Or did something go wrong? He should have handled things properly and killed him, why did he have to drag me into his mess?" She was angry, not because of what he did to Dave, but because he hadn’t gotten rid of Dave properly.
The door burst open, and a figure stepped into the room. Tasha’s head swiveled towards the entrance, her eyes locking onto a figure she wasn’t expected to see. Dave stood in the doorway, a hint of a smile playing on his lips as he shut the door behind him. His eyes gleaming with a knowing light, and Tasha felt a shiver run down her spine.
"For a moment, one would have thought you were a good person, based on your reaction," Dave said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. He walked further into the room, his eyes never leaving Tasha’s face. "But then you went on about how your man hadn’t handled things properly. May God rest his soul wherever he might be now." Dave’s hands came together in a mock prayer, his expression solemn before he dropped his hands and faced Tasha again.
Tasha’s face twisted into a frown, her eyes narrowing. "Wh-what did you just say?" she stuttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "What did you do to White?" Her eyes flashed with anger, and she took a step forward, her movements aggressive.
Dave’s expression remained calm, his voice even. "Well, I didn’t do anything to him, at least not directly. He probably would have still been alive if he hadn’t messed with me." His eyes locked onto Tasha’s, a glint of accusation in their depths. "You also took part in his death since you introduced him to me. So you’re to be blamed mainly for his death."
Tasha’s face contorted with rage, her voice rising to a shout. "You bastard, I’m going to kill you for this!" She charged towards Dave, pulling out the sword from her back as she swung it in a wide arc.
But Dave was too quick, as he dodged to the side with ease. Tasha’s sword bit into the air, missing Dave by a hair’s breadth. She stumbled forward, her momentum carrying her past Dave, and she spun around, her eyes blazing with fury.
Tasha charged at Dave again, her sword flashing in the light as she swung it in a vertical arc. The blade had managed to hit Dave on his arm, but instead of the expected sound of flesh tearing, a metallic clang echoed through the room.
Tasha’s eyes widened in surprise as she stared at Dave, her mind struggling to process what she had just seen.
"What the fuck?" she muttered, her eyes locked on Dave’s arm. But Dave just smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement as he waved his other hand at her.
With a swift motion, he grasped the tip of the sword and wrenched it from Tasha’s grasp. The metal screeched in protest as Dave snapped the sword in two, his strength evident in the ease at which he had broken the blade.
Dave then walked forward as he grabbed Tasha by her neck. "You have just an option to choose from. Will you choose to die, or will you do as I say?!" He growled at her.
