Chapter 559: Why Is It Opening So Fast (1)

Barush finally crawled out of the Realm of Eternal Samsara, battered and bruised.

“Noble Master Xiaofei, from this day forth, Barush shall be your most loyal dog,” he declared, forcing a smile despite his obvious humiliation.

Li Xiaofei, on the other hand, looked entirely satisfied. The feeling of subduing Barush through sheer force was undeniably exhilarating. To ensure his compliance, Li Xiaofei had fed Barush the Three Corpses Brain God Pill and marked him with the Life and Death Talisman.

Whether these measures would truly work remained uncertain. At the very least, he thought, it was worth a try. Additionally, Li Xiaofei forced Barush to swear an unbreakable oath and recorded his curses and insults directed at the four evil gods of Subspace. He reckoned this evidence might prove even more effective than the pill.

Xiaofei had begun to sense that the creatures of Subspace existed in a highly stratified society that was even more rigid than Jiepeng.

“Now, tell me—how do we enter Subspace?” Li Xiaofei asked.

Barush, now restored to a more human-like size, had shrunk down to resemble a rotund, spherical figure.

“Master, to return to Subspace, we must head to the Temple,” Barush replied honestly.

“Good, then let’s go,” Xiaofei said, wasting not a moment more.

Moments later, the two arrived at the deserted Temple. They made their way to the central hall of the palace complex, where the main shrine stood. The eerie and malevolent giant statue of Terror was still as imposing and ominous as ever at its center.

Barush dared not make a single suspicious move under Li Xiaofei’s watchful gaze. He fiddled nervously within the shrine, adjusting the posture of the deity’s statue. Then, with a pained cry, he tore off one of his own arms, offering it as a sacrificial token.

The sinister statue of Terror emitted a vivid crimson flame that consumed the severed arm in an instant. Soon after, a crack began to appear on its massive abdomen and slowly expanded into a door that radiated a fiery red glow.

“Master, this is the gateway to Subspace,” Barush said with an ingratiating smile.

“Lead the way,” Li Xiaofei commanded.

Barush turned pale but dared not defy his master’s will. He had become a traitor to his kind ever since the upheaval at the Temple. If his identity was exposed after returning to Subspace, he knew he would face execution. But now, there was no other choice.

Barush dragged his bloated, spherical body through the glowing red door. Li Xiaofei hesitated for a moment, deploying a drone to scout ahead. After ensuring there were no ambushes or hidden dangers, he stepped through the crimson gateway.

Subspace was a boundary realm existing between the worlds of matter and antimatter. It was not a thin, fragile barrier but an expansive, boundless space, as vast and infinite as the cosmic starry skies.

When Li Xiaofei emerged from the glowing portal, he found himself aboard an ancient, derelict spaceship that had been abandoned for countless years. Its gray-brown and archaic hull was made of some unknown material.

Li Xiaofei examined the interior of the ruined starship. The massive dome above him, towering thousands of meters high, resembled a sky unto itself. A network of crisscrossing bridges stretched overhead, hinting at the bustling activity that must have taken place here when the ship was fully operational.

This seemed to be the colossal vessel’s docking bay. Damaged alien fighters were scattered around them. They lay silent, like weathered reefs left behind by time. It was clear that a great battle had taken place here in the distant past.

Above the docking bay, an enormous jagged, irregular hole over two hundred meters in diameter marred the ship’s structure. It looked as if some massive object had collided with the ship, tearing through its energy shields and metal hull.

The size of the ship was beyond Li Xiaofei’s imagination. The docking bay alone spanned thousands of meters. The full height and length of the vessel likely reached tens of thousands of meters. Standing there, Li Xiaofei felt as insignificant as a grain of sand on a vast rock.

Pulling his gaze away from the wreckage, he focused inward, carefully assessing his physical state. He seemed unaffected by any external energy. However, he could not be sure whether this was because humans from Earth could survive in Subspace with their physical bodies or because the ancient, nearly fossilized life-support systems of the ship were still partially functioning.

He turned his attention to Barush, who stood nearby.

"Master, this is the Wind Ruins Battlefield, and this damaged giant ship is called the Biscuit. Ten thousand years ago, it was the flagship of a legion commander named Xiao Binggan from the Beichen Legion,," Barush quickly explained.

Beichen Legion?

Li Xiaofei's heart stirred at the name. Was it connected to Lin Beichen in some way?

Barush continued. "The Beichen Legion was a major combat force in the Order faction and the greatest enemy of the Evil God faction. Ten thousand years ago, Xiao Binggan led his forces to invade Subspace, cutting off Lord Terror's reinforcements to the Ziwei Starfield. A great war broke out here."

Order faction. Evil God faction.

Li Xiaofei keenly noted these two terms but said nothing, letting Barush continue his explanation.

"The warriors of the Beichen Legion were primarily human, so their starships were equipped with a biosimulation system that allowed humans to survive in Subspace. The Biscuit's biosimulation system is still operational to this day," Barush added. "That’s why your humble servant identified this location and brought you here, Master. It’s a safe place for you to adapt to Subspace and avoid being swept away by the Subspace Dark Storms."

Barush spoke with an ingratiating tone, eager to claim credit.

Li Xiaofei nodded slightly. "Where are Bajie and the Black Emperor?"

"Uh..."

"Could they have been caught in one of those Subspace Dark Storms?" Li Xiaofei pressed.

"This..."

"Speak." free𝑤ebnovel.com

"No, no, no! Absolutely not, Master. Rest assured," Barush stammered. "Truly. I swear by the King of Terror himself. My teleportation coordinates were set at Subspace entry points. While the locations are somewhat random, they must connect to existing regions, like the Wind Ruins Battlefield here, which are relatively safe zones."

Li Xiaofei studied Barush carefully, his expression unreadable. For now, he chose to accept the explanation, though a sliver of doubt remained.

Boom!

Li Xiaofei punched Barush squarely, causing his head to explode in a grotesque mess.

"What do you mean by relatively safe? Is it safe or not?" he bellowed.

Barush’s head regenerated instantly with a sickening squelch as he squealed in terror, “Master, safe, absolutely safe! I’ll contact some friends right away to locate their whereabouts!”

Li Xiaofei’s eyes narrowed as he asked, “Where is the Terror avatar I’m looking for?”

Barush replied hastily, “The areas around the Wind Ruins Battlefield fall under the dominion of Lord No. 88. The avatar you seek is none other than Lord No. 88.”

Li Xiaofei fell into deep thought.

“How strong is it?” he asked after a moment.

Barush swallowed hard. “Lord No. 88 is the absolute ruler of this region and a king-level entity. As long as its followers and subjects remain, it cannot be killed.”

Li Xiaofei’s face darkened. “And how many followers does it have?”

Barush hesitated, then murmured, “Countless. Billions upon billions.”

“Damn it,” Li Xiaofei cursed aloud.

This was practically suicidal.

“Master, it’s not entirely hopeless,” Barush ventured cautiously, testing the waters. “After all, your Heaven-Devouring Hound is a natural counter to Subspace creatures. If we find it and plan carefully, we might actually have a chance to take down No. 88.”

Li Xiaofei nodded. This was currently the only viable plan. He realized it was crucial to quickly understand the hierarchy of power among Subspace creatures. Barush began a detailed explanation.

Subspace creatures were ranked by the strength of their energy, categorized into Cannon Fodder, Soldiers, War Generals, Lords, Great Lords, Monarchs, Kings, Emperors, and finally, the supreme Evil Gods.

In all of Subspace, there were four supreme Evil Gods: Terror, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, and Nurgle.

Terror, known as the Blood God, was the deity that Barush worshiped. Terror represented slaughter, destruction, and an insatiable hunger for chaos. It embodied unbridled aggression, mindless fury, and the relentless seas of blood that engulf battlefields. Its thirst for bloodshed was unquenchable. Anyone who wielded weapons and killed in Terror’s name would inevitably gain its favor.

The Four Evil Gods perpetually sought to infiltrate the worlds beyond Subspace, driven by an eternal, insatiable desire for the living realms. Much of the slaughter, death, suffering, and war in countless worlds was tied to these four malevolent deities.
