The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 149: The Goddess has Spoken
Chapter 149: The Goddess has Spoken
Arya started the ceremony. She opened the portal and asked for the goddess to grace them.
Silence filled the room after Arya finished her chant. Nothing was happening.
Then the candles started flickering and the air began to glow with moonlit illuminants. It was mystical.
In the center a windstorm formed a cyclone. Clouds formed in the sky darkening the world. The candles flickered out for a moment. The room went dark, the moon disappearing from the sky.
A glowing figure emerged from the circle and the candles all around relit themselves but instead of an orange flame, white ones replaced it.
The air in the room seemed to be sucked out as the ethereal being appeared before them now with clarity.
She had hair to floor that was long and white that flowed weightlessly around her, she had eyes glowed white but had a clouded sky look to them. She wore a sharp white dress with sliver and diamonds etched into the bodice.
She was so beautiful too look at; it hurt. Her features were sharp and she had a deadly aura surrounding her like a shield.
Arya went to speak, but the goddess held up her hand silencing her before she could open her mouth.
"You wish to know of my child" She said firmly glaring hard at Violet.
A possessive growl left her lips unknowingly to her.
"Yes, Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt and of the Moon; where is my daughter? Can you help me please find her?"
"This is your journey, Violet. Her fate is in motion; her purpose is clear." The Goddess spoke with an absolution that made the walls tremble. "She is where she should be, if you chase her, you will not like what you find. The path you are on is one of destruction and bloodshed. Once you commit to this path there will be no return. Are you prepared to pay the price for vengeance?"
"I will pay any price if it means I will have my daughter back." Violet spoke with a decisive and confident tone.
"If that is the path you choose Queen of Darkness. She lies to the east in a land of snowcapped mountains and waring wolves. Surrounded by enemies but will soon be in the arms of her protector." The Goddess spoke. "The journey that lies ahead is one filled with misery and anguish. I cannot give you more than what I have said, my time is running short. I’m not meant to remain here for long."
"Thank you, my goddess, for your help and wisdom." Arya spoke with her eyes and chin pointed down in respect to her.
"Arya, you know what needs to be done with your coven and what is to come. Remember your vow."
And with those last words her figure became distorted and with a blinding explosion, moondust filled the air, the candles flames flickered from white back to orange and clouds in the sky cleared away showcasing a beautiful waxing moon in the sky.
A flood of emotions crashed into Violet with such force; it knocked the wind out of her.
Ash was still trying to reel in the fact he was just in the presence of a literal goddess. It’s not like he forgot his daughter was also Artemis’s daughter. But hearing the goddess call Odette hers was a big wake up call.
He raised a goddess in flesh.
And he lost her.
Arya couldn’t believe she was given the chance to communicate the moon goddess herself. She was ecstatic. The only other time she had an interaction with the goddess was when she was used as the portal for the goddess. But this time she didn’t just get to meet her; she was able to see her too.
Violet was still trying to figure out what snowcapped mountains the goddess meant. She felt so much closer, yet so far away from finding her daughter.
She was surrounded by enemies? In the arms of her protector? What did the goddess mean by that?
She didn’t care about the misery she would have to endure. She’s been through so much already, nothing can hurt her more than losing her daughter. No pain could compare. Everything else was tolerable compared to this.
Or so she thought anyways.
Ash’s phone began vibrating in his pocket.
He looked at the caller ID and it was his father.
"Hello." Ash picked up.
"Will you come to see the soldiers and what your army looks like, more have arrived. The rest will be here before dawn tomorrow." Vlad said to Ash.
"I’ll the day after tomorrow and inspect everything." Ash spoke firmly and then hung up the phone.
"Who was that?" Violet asked.
"My father, we’ll go see the soldiers the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow, I’d like to train with you, if you would grant me the pleasure, my queen." Ash said with seduction at the end.
"Only if you wish to get your butt kicked me." Violet teased back.
"Ha ha, that’s hilarious. Come on its almost dawn. It’s way past our bedtime." Violet grabbed hold of Violet’s hand.
"Arya you can stay in one of the guest rooms with Rolland if you wish." Ash said before leaving.
Arya would stay the night. It was way too early in the morning, and she was running on no sleep since the graduation ceremony. She was exhausted.
Violet and Ash retire to their room. Violets mind still swarming with worry. Ash doing his best to keep Violet grounded. They both knew that no matter how tired they felt, neither would find a peaceful sleep.
Violet changed from her clothes and into pajamas and curled up under the covers. Ash threw on a pair of sweatpants and then climbed in bed beside Violet. He pulled her close and stroked the back of her hair and just held her.
Violet silently wept in his arms. Her should have dried up by now, but still her body found more ways to produce tears. Her shoulders shuddered in his embrace as she crumbled.
"She’s a strong girl, we raised a fearless and powerful princess, she is going to be okay. The goddess didn’t seem to be too worried, and she said her protector would find her soon. Maybe she’ll be rescued by him." Ash tried soothing her with his words. But they felt empty, not just to him but to Violet too.
What mother could find peace when their daughter has been kidnapped by the enemy.
