Chapter 611: Going out to kick some butt

Xiaomu covered her mouth and giggled. "Now that I think about it, you would make such a cute couple. You were made for each other."

Linhou was puzzled and instinctively wanted to say that it was impossible and he didn’t feel that way for Yue. However, he knew that he was lying to himself and he was done pretending.

" Do you really think so?" He asked.

She nodded. "I never thought about it. All I thought was that Yue was taking up too much of your time. However, I think you are more of a boyfriend and a girlfriend than best friends."

It was baffling to both of them to talk about it, especially since they had just switched from throwing virtual fireballs at each other to talking about relationships.

...

The following morning, Luna was boring a hole in the living room floor from how much she was pacing.

Xingyu crept up behind her and pulled her into his arms. "Darling, calm down. You are going to tire yourself by pacing so much. Why are you so distressed anyway?"

Luna stopped and leaned into her husband’s arms, letting out breaths of exasperation.

"Today is Linhou’s day off. Shuihan is busy so Linhou is probably to spend most of his day at home. Mumu, on the other hand, only spends three hours out for college and is home most of the day. "Will they be okay?"

"I’m sure they are fine." He kissed her to calm her down, but she was still worried.

"They can’t stay in the same space for five minutes without fighting." She sighed. "Sometimes I feel I failed as a parent."

He understood how she felt because he had felt that way at some point. However, he understood them better now. "You didn’t. There isn’t any major disagreement between them. Although we can spend enough time with our kids and teach them to love each other, we can’t control how they feel for each other even if we try our best. Besides, they fight over everything and I think it’s a twins thing."

She scrunched up her nose." It’s definitely not a twins thing. Lanni and I don’t fight over anything." She denied the claim immediately, although the first thing that flashed in her mind was their argument as adults, which was sillier than toddlers battling over the same toy.

Xingyu thought about the same thing and chuckled. "Says the one who fought with her twin over a room in their mother’s house even though it was just one of the two available identical rooms."

"Shut up." She touched his lips to make him stop talking.

He pulled her to sit on the couch while laughing at their rivalry. "You didn’t ever have the chance to see each other as rivals. Linhou and Mumu always thought they were enemies since they were born and although they love each other, they wouldn’t stop... fighting." He slowed down and suddenly stopped speaking when he heard two sets of footsteps from the staircase and looked up to see the said rivals, walking downstairs with Xiaomu’s arm around Linhou’s like they were inseparable siblings.

Luna’s jaw dropped when she saw them laughing at something Linhou had said. She raised a brow at her husband. "You were saying?"

"I said they would be okay." He cleared his throat and took in their outfits. They were wearing one piece suits, Linhou’s in black and Xiaomu’s in white, and they slid their masks on when they entered the living room.

"Good morning mother, father." They greeted in sync and hugged them, before heading for the door.

"Where are you going?" Luna asked worriedly.

"To kick some butt." Xiaomu laughed. "We will be back for breakfast."

"Okay." It took a while for her to believe they were going somewhere together. "Be careful on the road, okay?"

When they left, she turned to Xingyu. "Hey, one of them won’t come back later after secretly burying the other, right?"

"You are thinking too much." Xingyu laughed. But then he thought about it. What were the odds that siblings who had fought all their lives would suddenly collaborate on anything? They wouldn’t actually try to get rid of each other, right?

...

The twins couldn’t believe it either. After arguing over who would drive for a while, they finally settled on Xiaomu driving first and Linhou bringing them back home.

She adjusted the driver’s seat of Linhou’s car to suit her height while glancing at him. "I can’t believe I’m doing this with you. Are you sure he is the guy you saw with Yue?"

"Yes. He even smiled at me smugly. Then when I saw him at our house that day, he panicked. Besides, I would never forget his name. Yue said his name was Qiao Feng."

Xiaomu floored the accelerator. "Good. I’ll show him what happens to people who try to play Jiangs."

Although all she wanted now was to beat the crap out of him, she couldn’t deny that she felt awful. After all, she thought Qiao Feng actually liked her. Who would have thought that he was playing her and Yue?

The guy lived on his own, not far from the Jiang villa, so they were there in twenty minutes... only to find that he was not home.

"Urgh. I was ready to beat the living daylights out of him." She groaned in frustration as they went back to the car.

"I was going to punch out the teeth I didn’t mean to leave intact last time." He added, making her laugh.

"It’s a wasted trip." She shrugged.

"Too bad. Let’s go somewhere else." He suggested, knowing that their mother had probably just started making breakfast. It would take a while and it was early.

"How about we make a short trip to the amusement park? It’s close enough." She suggested. She was talking about the amusement park near Jiangs villa, where they would always take their cousin whenever his family visited.

He couldn’t think of a better destination so he agreed. A roller coaster ride on empty stomachs sounded like a blast.

When he said it out aloud, she glared at him.

"I’m not going on some scary ride. The ferris wheel is all we are going for." She insisted.

He laughed. Xiaomu was terrified of heights but she was a hopeless romantic. So although the roller coaster scared the crap out of her and the falling tower sounded like something out of a nightmare, she somehow managed to survive the ferris wheel. It made him wonder what about the ferris wheel was so romantic to her. Maybe it was the thought of being in a small space with the one she loved. Of course, he knew she was trying to make up for lost time when she suggested it this time.

The amusement park was nearly empty since it was so early, and the staff were cleaning the place.

They rejected the siblings when they expressed their desire to go on a ferris wheel ride.

"I’m sorry, the amusement park is not open for business until 11am." Responded the woman they guessed was in charge of the ferris wheel.

Linhou was about to give up but Xiaomu stepped in. "Ma’am, I’m sorry to make this difficult for you but can you please give us just a few minutes? My brother and I have been fighting all our lives and I have always wanted to go on a ferris wheel with him as kids. It’s our birthday today and I was hoping to give him this ride as a gift."

Linhou chuckled beside her. How come he didn’t know it was their birthday? Xiaomu pinched him to shut up.

Sure enough, the woman couldn’t resist Xiaomu’s cute plea. "Fine. But after one ride, you have to leave."

"Thank you. Here’s a tip." She stuffed several hundred dollar bills in the woman’s hand and grabbed Linhou’s hand, running away before she could reject it.

wish Yanyan were here too. She seems dull these days.

"How come I didn’t know you are so good at acting cute?" He laughed as they got into their capsule.

She jabbed him and settled in on the opposite side. "I wish Yanyan was here. I miss her."

He nodded. "Is she really alright? She has been dull lately."

"I’m sure she is alright. She would tell me if anything was wrong. Maybe her studies are taking a toll on her."

"Yeah." He let out a sigh and randomly kissed her forehead.

Her eyes widened. That was not the kind of affection she and her brother had ever shared. It was a little awkward.

"Do you think it’s too late to go back to being enemies with you?" She joked.
