Chapter 612: Cupid (1)

After the ferris wheel ride, the duo returned home cursing at Qiao Feng.

"If I ever see that man," Linhou threatened.

"You won’t need to do anything to him. I will deal with him faster than he can appear before you." She added. "Should we warn Yue about him?"

Linhou gave her a funny look. "That will not be necessary. Once I charm her off her feet, she won’t remember who the hell Qiao Feng is."

She rolled her eyes at his exaggerated response. "That will not happen in this lifetime. You take after our father."

"What’s that supposed to mean?" He glared at her. He knew what everyone said about his father’s skill at flirting. Although he managed to charm such a beautiful woman, he couldn’t do it on his own and his mother had to step into the role of cupid for Luna to know how he felt for her.

" Are you implying that I need help picking up girls?" He laughed. "I’m the one rumored to have innumerable girlfriends, remember?" He gloated.

She scoffed. "That’s only because they assume there’s no way you can stick to one girl when you are such a handsome gentleman."

"Thanks for the compliment." He grinned.

"Hey!" She frowned at him. Turned out he was merely fishing for compliments from her.

Soon after their breakfast, Xiaomu sent Yue a text and asked her out for lunch. She then asked Luna for help with her tech project. It was already noon by the time they were done so she submitted it, organized her desk and went out to meet Yue at the restaurant they had decided on.

She arrived first so she saw the confusion on Yue’s phone when she walked in. She had used Linhou’s phone to text her, so the confusion was expected.

She smiled. "You came."

"Why is it you?" Yue expressed her confusion. "Wait. Did you use Linhou’s phone to call me out for lunch?"

She saw the clear disappointment on Yue’s face and smiled. She was right. Yue liked Linhou and it had nothing to do with them growing up close to each other and loving each other as siblings.

"Yes. My phone was off." She lied. Yue definitely saw right through her but she didn’t say a word.

When she sat down, Xiaomu came out with it.

"I’ll be honest. I knew you would never come if you knew it was me. I’ve been a horrible person to you all our lives and in fact, that’s why I called you." She took Yue’s hand nervously. "I would like to apologize to you. You didn’t do anything wrong but I was such an awful person. I’m sorry."

"Don’t sweat it. I never took offense." Yue patted her hand. After all, it wasn’t like Xiaomu ever did anything that put her in danger. They were all harmless pranks and it would have been funny if they were friends. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"It’s okay." She added. "And I’m sorry for hogging all of your brother’s attention. I don’t have any siblings myself and unknowingly clung to him."

Xiaomu blushed when she realized the reason why she was hostile to Yue wasn’t unknown to anyone.

She hurriedly changed the topic while at the same time, grabbing on the chance she was waiting for. "Speaking of Linhou, do you... just think of him as a brother?"

"What are you implying?" Yue was grateful that the waitress came over or she would have made a fool out of herself.

Xiaomu was relieved too. She had nearly forgotten to take it slow. They ordered their food and when the waitress went to bring their orders, she took deep breaths and resumed her mission.

"Since you think of yourself as his sister, we should help him out." She made an excuse. "Our parents are worried that he has no interest in girls. Do you think we can help him set up a blind date?"

Yue didn’t look happy about it. "Linhou has had girlfriends before."

"Yeah," Xiaomu bit her tongue when she remembered the few girls he had seen around her brother in the past, who she had momentarily forgotten about.

"But you know our parents. They think he should get more serious than just flings. They are worried he will not be able to settle down so they asked me to help me find a girl." She whipped out a picture she had printed earlier and showed it to Yue. "What do you think of her? She is my friend and Linhou has met her before."

Yue swallowed an uncomfortable ball in her throat. "She’s not his type. If they met before, he would have asked her out if he liked her."

Xiaomu smiled, seeing as her method was working. She took out another picture. "Her? She is so pretty."

"Too much of a plain Jane. Linhou likes girls with a bit of a bold style." Yue retorted.

Xiaomu scanned her and realized that indeed, Yue usually went for bold colors and if she was not dressed like a ruffian, she looked like a seductive queen. So she actually knew her best friend’s type but was somewhat unaware that she was part of that type. What?

"Her?" She showed a picture of a girl dressed in biker clothes.

"Do you even know your brother at all? He would never go for a biker." Yue dismissed.

"Trust me, he can totally be with one. Especially if that biker is beautiful." She grinned, indirectly talking about Yue.

"No. He wouldn’t like her." She snapped. Then she labeled another girl as "too much of a barbie", making Xiaomu want to burst into laughter.

"I’m a bit tired. Why don’t we continue this tomorrow?" Yue suggested and was relieved when their food arrived.

"Okay." Xiaomu smiled. She had already evoked her jealousy after all. She then sent a text to her brother.

[It’s almost time.]

Linhou soon replied. [Don’t you think it’s a bit too much? What if I scare her away?]

Xiaomu rolled her eyes as she replied to him. [Just do it. I know women better than you do, okay?]

...

Linhou decided to trust his sister. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?

He met up with Xiaomu’s friend and she already knew what to do, so he drove to Han Xichen’s mansion when he was certain that both Han Xichen and Xiaoshi were home.

"Linhou, we were not expecting you." Xiaoshi welcomed them, shooting a glare at her husband so he wouldn’t say something mean to Linhou.

"Hello, Uncle Han." He greeted.

"Hello." Han Xichen bit back his remark. "Who is your friend?"

"Tianxin is my girlfriend." He let the girl say hi to the couple before he explained, "I thought I should introduce her to you since you and Aunt Shishi are like another set of parents to me."

They sat down for a cup of tea.

"Oh, you finally got yourself a girlfriend." Xiaoshi mused in excitement. "She is so pretty."

Then she caught sight of her daughter trying to go upstairs sneakily and called her over.

"Yue, aren’t you going to say hi to Tianxin?"

"Hi Tianxin." Yue forced a smile and froze when she recognized her from one of the pictures Xiaomu had shown her. Were they already dating before Xiaomu thought of setting them up?

Han Xichen caught sight of his daughter’s expression and poked his wife secretly. "What are you doing?"

"Opening my daughter’s eyes. Why, do you have a problem with it?" She grinned.

"None that I know of." He cleared his throat and let her do her thing.

"Yue, show Tianxin around. I’m going to make some tea." She stood up and let her husband and Linhou finally face their skeletons.

Meanwhile, Yue wasn’t pleased to be with Tianxin. When they were on their own in the garden, her smile faded.

"So you are the girl Linhou has been talking about all year?"

"What do you mean?" Tianxin frowned.

"Oh sorry. That’s not you. I met her only once last week and nearly mistook you for her. She has slightly bigger eyes."

Tianxin wanted to laugh. She already knew from Xiaomu that Yue might be mean to her out of jealousy so she made something up.

"Actually, Linhou and I dated before and broke up. We met again last week and realized we still had feelings for each other."

Yue was shocked and almost couldn’t control her expression. She crushed a flower in her hand. "Is that so?"
