Chapter 459: Chapter 459 - Give me a night, Laura. Just one night

"A lot. I know where his secret pregnant wife lives and his parents too. I have eyes all around him but I can’t strike until I resign from the agency."

Sabrina was relieved but also surprised that Laura had made headway but could not understand the reason why the latter could not act immediately.

"Why is that?"

"If anything goes wrong, the agency will be in trouble but if I strike as a rogue agent, then the blame will solely be on me," Laura explained.

Every day that she received information from the spies she kept paying to keep an eye on Julius and his family, her heart itched for vengeance but she had kept to the rules.

She had the chance to resign earlier but she had gotten close to Sabrina and fell in love with the twins that she could not refuse Robin’s proposal to move in with them.

His pay was also great as she needed more money to continue paying the people she was working with.

She never thought about a future and never cared about her life. For as long as her family found peace in their grave, she would be fine.

Besides, Julius was still taking down innocent people and had to be stopped. Laura took it upon herself to be the one to bring him down after researching about him and knowing that he had no moral values.

For as long as money was put on the table, Julius did not care about whom to send to the grave, whether innocent or guilty.

"So, you are going rogue?" Sabrina asked with worry but Laura was confident about it and replied,

"Everything is ready but Julius is very smart and tough. He is in Chicago today and in Tanzania tomorrow. He always succeeds with all his missions. I don’t want him to be aware when I take down his family but he himself would be the last to join them."

It seemed to Sabrina that Laura was going to take on someone stronger than her. Thus, she could not help being more disturbed about the plan.

"I support your revenge but it shouldn’t stop you from giving love a second chance. Not all men are like Julius you know," Sabrina advised, feeling that if Laura had something or someone to look back on, then she would be more careful about her life.

"I will remember that but I don’t think Jacob would like me by the time I’m done with Julius," Laura said with a bitter smile.

What she had planned was gruesome and she felt that no man would want a woman with a heart so black as hers.

"Why don’t you let him decide?" Sabrina asked, not believing that Jacob would give up easily.

Laura felt relieved to finally share her feelings, but she also worried that she had said too much.

"It was great talking to you, Sabrina, but I can’t stay here for more than a week. I already submitted my resignation letter to the agency after your enemies were captured, and it has been approved. I only have four more days of work," Laura explained.

Sabrina was surprised by this news, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. There was also no way to stop Laura from what she was going to do.

However, Sabrina knew that the villa would never be the same again without Laura.

"I’ll miss you, Laura," Sabrina said as she hugged her, speaking from the heart. Laura smiled in response.

This was the only job where Laura had let her emotions guide her. Being with the Jewels felt like being with family, as they never saw her as an agent.

They treated her like one of their own, without any restrictions.

"You’ll see me again, if I’m not caught. And if I am, I’ll make sure he doesn’t live to see the sun," Laura vowed. She had never failed a mission before, and this wouldn’t be her first.

Laura’s commitment to her mission made Sabrina worry about her leaving without a commitment to Jacob.

"Isn’t falling in love again worth considering?" she asked.

Laura smiled and asked, "You mean Jacob?"

"Yes. I can see the way you look at each other," Sabrina said plainly, noticing a pink stain on Laura’s cheek for the first time, but it quickly disappeared.

"I can’t be devoted to him when my family died because of me. They deserve justice," Laura explained. Sabrina pleaded with her, holding her hands and begging,

"Then please don’t get yourself killed. You have a family waiting for you here."

Laura was deeply touched by her words, her eyes becoming glassy. "I will try. Julius is the best in his agency, so it won’t be easy, but I have an advantage over him."

"What is that?" Sabrina asked curiously. Laura explained, "I know all his moves, but he thinks I’m dead."

Sabrina smiled. Being ahead of one’s enemy was a great advantage, as Robin had often used to his benefit. "I wish you all the best."

"Thank you, but Jacob must not know about this," Laura said seriously, leaving Sabrina at a loss.

If she doesn’t inform Robin to tell Jacob, then how would he have hope? However, if Laura has trusted her with this secret, she couldn’t disappoint her.

"This is girls talk so why should a man know?" Sabrina asked casually. Laura smiled and responded,

"Thank you."

"I will always be here for you and you should remember that we are your family too," Sabrina reminded her. Laura had tears in her eyes but before she responded, Robin’s voice cut through.

"My queen, it’s your turn to dance."

Sabrina was shocked and had a frown on her face. She never planned to join their dancing craze and thought of an excuse to give.

"Oh no, I think Robert is hungry. I will go and breastfeed him."

Robin was already by her side, dragging her by the waist. "Sorry, my queen, you can’t escape this one. Everyone has danced except you and Laura."

Laura knew she was going to be next and instantly refused, "I don’t dance." Jacob countered, "I know you can."

Laura was helpless as Jacob dragged her to the dance floor, and she danced with Sabrina with everyone cheering for them.

That was how they all joined the dance, with every man dancing with their partners. The fun continued late into the night before everyone retired to bed.

Four days later, Laura had news for Robin. "Mr. Jewel, my job is done and I resigned from the agency."

She was already carrying her bag and Robin was not surprised, as he already knew a lot about Laura through Jacob and made her an offer, freёnovelkiss.com

"How about you work directly for me?"

Laura looked around, tempted to take the offer but her desire for revenge burned so deep. "I don’t know about that but there is something very important I need to take care of."

"What is that?" Robin asked, pretending not to know. Laura glanced at Sabrina before saying to Robin,

"I’m sorry, I can’t tell but if everything works out, then I would return but if not, I’m glad to have served you and your family."

Robin was saddened as things had not progressed between Laura and Jacob. "I don’t know what to say."

"I should leave then." Laura turned around and was almost at the door when Jacob spoke from a distance,

"Leaving without saying goodbye?"

Laura forced a smile. She didn’t want to see Jacob before leaving, as it would make things difficult for her.

Without turning around, she responded, "It’s better this way."

Jacob was saddened and his heart was heavy as he walked to her and she turned to face him. He stared at Robin and Sabrina, they instantly excused themselves before he said to Laura,

"So everything we had, was it just dust?"

He knew that Laura could not lie about not feeling anything for him, just as he felt for her, and he asked, but Laura didn’t want to get her hopes up.

She didn’t want Jacob to know about her next course of action and didn’t want to be affected by his hatred for her afterwards. "

I don’t know what you’re talking about," she said, reaching for the doorknob, but Jacob held it in place, his gaze boring into hers.

"If you’re leaving, don’t you think you should give me something?" He took a step closer to her, and Laura tensed up, her heart rate increasing dramatically.

"Something like what? I don’t think I have anything to give," she said, lowering her gaze. Jacob lifted her chin, and their gazes met once again.

"Give me a night, Laura. Just one night."

Laura hesitated for a moment, and Jacob thought she was going to say no. She took a step back, opened her backpack, removed a card, and handed it to him. "Don’t be late."

Jacob was confused, but the door was shut, and she was gone. He stared at the card, and his lips stretched into a thin smile.
