The Princess And The Lord-Chapter 1372: The Scheme
Chapter 1372: The Scheme
When she arrived at the Cestine Palace, Lory went straight to the king’s study room, where Fred was already waiting with a stack of files arranged neatly like a small mountain on her desk. Lory could only stare at the files with a resigned expression, then begrudgingly dragged herself behind the desk.
"What do you think about the Sciron training ground? I heard you visited the place and met Leon." Fred asked casually while handing the files to Lory.
"The facilities are great and also very useful for the development of our discovery, so I understand why you poured a lot of money into that place, and Leon...well, he doesn’t change much, does he?" Lory propped her chin while receiving the files, then she proceeded to examine their contents, after she felt satisfied, she gave stamp approval.
"No, he doesn’t," Fred answered while quickly replacing the paper with the new one, while Lory continued her task.
"I heard the test went well, even your husband took part in the test." Fred collected the paper that had already been approved and then replaced it with another one.
"He’s just worried about me." Lory’s eyes glowed as she spoke about Zhao Li Xin.
"Whatever it is, your husband’s participants proved to be helpful to us in achieving our goal. By the way, where is your husband?" Fred realized Zhao Li Xin was not in the room.
"He said he wanted to cultivate and I told him to try the cryo room facilities to help him, though I remind you he might accidentally blow up the whole place," Lory said in a playful tone, but she wasn’t kidding, and Fredhardt knew it but he didn’t bother by it.
"It’s fine, he wasn’t the first and definitely wouldn’t be the last who blew up the cryo room. I remember a little princess who used to destroy that place when she practiced her power. Fredhardt glanced from the corner of his eye.
"Hey, Luc and Jay did the same!" Lory defends herself.
"Not as much as you," Fredhardt replied.
Lory pouted while slamming the royal seal to the paper.
Fredhardt pretended not to know and continued, "That’s why it’s okay if Mr. Zhao wants to blow up the whole place. The sooner he increases his strength, the sooner he can help Luc, heck, he can blow up the whole place hundreds of times or more for all I care, and that’s still a small price we pay to save the king."
"I know you’re gonna say that ~" Lory gave the approval stamp and handed it to Fredhardt.
"Oh, I have an urgent problem you have to pay attention to," Fredhardt suddenly said.
"Oh, what is it?" Lory made a checkmark on the paper and then separated it from other files, which meant she would re-check the contents later.
"Someone from the S.A.I.N.T. organization asked permission for the Saintess to visit Harland, and they also say they want to have an audience with our king to discuss the matter about Bael," said Fredhardt.
Lory raised her eyebrows. "The saintess? Will Salvo de Rova come along as well?" frёewebnoѵēl.com
"How can he leave the Saintess all by herself?" Fredhardt said with a contemptuous smile, then placed another paper in front of Lory, "Not only that, we are also graced by the visit of Alexander Behrenn himself."
"Ah, he came too? How long has it been since he last visited Harland? It’s indeed an honor for us, don’t you think?" Lory spoke in a sarcastic tone.
Just like Lory, he knew that their arrival in Harland was not for a good reason. He believed they came to confirm their suspicions. "Uh-huh, how lucky we are~" Fredhardt sneered, then walked towards the coffee table.
He gently held the teapot handle with one hand, then slowly poured the tea into the porcelain teacup. After that, he added milk and extra sugar for Lory.
He placed a cup of tea before Lory and sat across from her. He lifted the cup and took a slow, graceful sip. After a moment, he spoke in a cool and steady tone, "The officials are getting more and more restless, and they are starting to insist on meeting the King."
Lory sipped her tea without a change of expression, seemingly unbothered by the news. After a while, she muttered, "Guessed we can’t delay them anymore..."
"Yes, but we need to be careful, I don’t trust all of them..." his eyes glinted dangerously under his long eyelashes.
Lory put down her teacup and leaned back in her chair. "I know what you mean, but we have to take action to appease our officials. I think it was the S.A.I.N.T. organization’s request to visit that invoked their doubts."
"Yes, after we managed to block all information from leaking out of our country, the enemy became anxious, therefore, they became impatient and chose a direct approach. Still and all, we can’t let the enemy know you returned because if they do, I’m afraid they’ll change their strategy and we don’t want that..."
"Well, timing is everything...so what can we do, should we delay their arrival, but for what reason?" Lory was out of ideas about how to refuse their arrival without looking suspicious.
The room was silent for a long time before Fredhardt’s voice finally broke the silence, "In three days, there will be a plenary meeting that will be attended by the old members of the royal defense commission and a few high officials. Do you remember the commission that was formed when Lucas left L’markieth to complete the King’s Trials?"
Lory remembered when Lucas left to complete the King’s Palace, the responsibility to protect L’Markieth fell on her but Lory knew that sooner or later she would have to leave L’Markieth to find a way to save Lucas from his fate so it was for that reason that she proposed to form a commission to run L’Markieth.
"I remember, Leon was part of that commission, right?" Lory said.
"He’s also the person I trust the most, that’s why I left you with him in L’markieth." Fred lowered his gaze.
Perhaps what he never expected was that Lory would leave L’markieth alone, if he knew he would rather take Lory with them, even though it would be against the rule.
Then again, if he wants to be honest, that might not work either. because Lory already had her own plans. The girl was smart, resilient, and well-prepared, hence, he and everyone never found out what Lory was about to do until it was too late.
He should be proud that the student finally surpassed the master.
"I will thoroughly check the background of everyone who will attend the plenary meeting. Everything is fine, we will reveal your existence in front of them."
"You want to involve them in our scheme, fine by me, though," Lory took the teacup and made another sip. She was calm and unfazed by the troubles that were about to come her way, one could always expect that from the heir of Lucient.
Not only Lory but Lucas was also the same, as they both grew up mature beyond their age. Ironically, that fact always brought a little sorrow to his heart.
"Have you ever talked with the Saintess before?" Lory asked suddenly.
"No, I wasn’t interested and I thought she was unimportant at the time... How wrong I was," Fred said in a self-deprecating tone.
Fredhardt didn’t tell Lory that the biggest reason he made such a big mistake was that he was trapped in the grief of losing Lory. The guilt, anger, and sadness almost paralyzed him, and the same thing happened to Lucas, Fargo, Jay, and Clift.
They were all drowning in the same pain that eventually allowed Luxemborough and the S.A.I.N.T. organization to develop their powers into what they are today.
"There’s still time, Fred, the Enemy is playing a long game, this is not only to their advantage but also to our advantage...Soon we will beat them in their own game."
Thanks to her success in saving Ethan Hamilton from Luxemborough’s hands, Lory managed to set back the enemy’s plans.
Fredhardt raises his teacup. "Saluted for that."
Lory raised her teacup and cheered, "Here - here!"

Lilly bit her nails while replying to messages on her cell phone. After she finished, she threw her cell phone aside and then jumped onto the bed and pressed her whole face against the human-shaped pillow to muffle her screams.
After being satisfied with venting her frustration, Lilly lifted her face, which was red from holding her breath for too long. She turned around, then lay on her back and stared at the white ceiling of her room.
She didn’t expect the difficulty of pretending to date Sean Lockwood to be harder than she thought. The man was too pretentious and too confident for her taste. She tilted her head and then looked at the pillow with the face of her idol, King Lucas, with a sullen face.
"Why aren’t there any men half as good as you?" she complained sadly.
Lilly had been a fan of Lucas since she was twelve, but after the war ended, she once accidentally met Lucas in a town called Silverbells City. There was nothing special about their meeting. Lilly was just one of the people in the crowd who was eager to see Lucas when he attended a formal event.
Lilly only saw Lucas for about twenty seconds before he was ushered into the building. It was only a glimpse, but for Lilly, it was love at first sight.
Still, she didn’t take it seriously, for she knew it was just wishful thinking on her part. Thus, she turned her admiration into a hobby to pass her time, yet destiny brought her a surprise. Who would have thought that fate would bring her together with Princess Lorient?
Even so, Lilly knew her place, so she didn’t expect much. Her only dream was to be given the chance to shake Lucas’s hand and take a picture with Lucas and Lory.
When that happens, she will make the photo as a family heirloom, she doesn’t think it’s excessive because as far as she knows no one has ever taken a photo with Lory and Lucas together even people who said they went to the same school as Lory and Lucas said it was rare for anyone to take a photo with the royal family let alone Lucas’s because usually he would disappears the moment when the event is over.
Lily also believes that her grandfather will agree with her idea, even her stupid older brother would be happy, he might even be jealous.
Lilly knew her stupid brother had a crush on the princess, but then again, she couldn’t blame his stupidity, it was hard not to fall in love after you interacted with Lory, but brother, she was out of your league.
The vibrating sound of her phone snapped her out of her thoughts. Lilly checked her phone, and a second later, she frowned. "He’s coming here, AGAIN?" Lilly scoffed, then rolled her eyes in annoyance.
After she pretended to like Sean Lockwood, he kept asking her out, it was so annoying, but she couldn’t say no because she had promised to find out what Sean Lockwood wanted from her, even so, Lilly found it hard to keep up the pretense.
These past few days, Sean Lockwood had been making all sorts of excuses to visit her house, but she knew Sean Lockwood’s goal was to meet her grandfather, it seemed like he wanted to make a good impression in front of her grandfather.
It was understandable because her grandfather was still the biggest decision-maker for the Hamilton family, so it’s no wonder Sean aimed at her grandfather first.
Lilly snorted in disdain, "You cunning bastard, no wonder Lory doesn’t like you. Compared to Mr. Zhao, even though he was very, very scary. But at least he is more honest and straightforward when he speaks. He is also more handsome and has a better style. Ha-ha, you don’t stand a chance, Mr. Lockwood." Lilly stuck out her tongue and typed a short reply of ’ok’. After that, she threw her phone beside her in huffed.
Lilly once again looked up at the ceiling after a short moment, Lily let out a pitiful cry, "I miss Lory..."
