The Princess And The Lord-Chapter 1373: Best Actor and Actress

Before Sean Lockwood arrived, Lily immediately informed the Noxcra agent guarding her about the situation and went to see her grandfather to discuss the next steps with him. Therefore, Lily rushed to her grandfather’s study room.

Lily knocked on her grandfather’s study door three times before entering. After that, she called out in a sweet tone, "Grandpa, are you busy?" Lilly’s head poked out from behind the door.

Hugo’s smile grew wider when he heard his beloved granddaughter’s voice, "Hi honey, no, I’m enjoying Mr. Zhao’s new work, come on, come see for yourself, it’s amazing!"

With unsteady steps, Lilly walked towards the large table in the middle of the room. On the table lay a two-and-a-half-meter-long scroll painting, it only took a second for Lily to be completely captivated by the painting.

This is a painting of a beautiful turquoise lake, surrounded by peach blossom trees, and on the side of the lake, there are four people gathered together drinking wine and chatting inside a small pagoda like they were friends.

Even though Lily does not have a deep understanding of ink paintings like Hugo, she can’t help but move with the painting, "Mr. Zhao painted this?" Lily held her breath as she admired Zhao Li Xin’s painting. It’s not just extremely beautiful but the feeling exuded by Zhao Li Xin’s painting is a stark contrast with Zhao Li Xin’s apathetic and cold character, if she didn’t know Zhao Li Xin she would think the painter must be a warm and kindhearted person.

"Of course, who else can produce this beautiful painting besides," Hugo looked at Lilly as if she was stupid.

Lilly raised his hand and surrendered, "Okay - okay, I’m amazed that Mr. Zhao can paint something so warm and soft like this, there is writing on the side, what does it mean?" Lily pays attention to writing that looks like the Astern language.

"Oh yes, why don’t we enjoy the painting while listening to music with a cup of coffee!" Lily suddenly remembered why she came here and then rushed to take the remote and turn on the music in the room.

The melodious music filled the room and Lily and Hugo exchanged meaningful looks. Hugo walked behind his desk and then shifted a small statue head that was placed on his desk. Inside the statue, there was a small thin needle plant on the smooth black plate.

Hugo pressed his thumb on the needle and instantly a red symbol appeared on the plate and a transparent barrier surrounded his desk.

Only when they were safe inside the barrier did Lilly complaint, "We have to get rid of all the bugs inside our house"

"Be patient Lilly, before we get what we want, we cannot get rid of the bugs or the enemy will be suspicious," Hugo said with a heavy heart.

A few days ago the Noxcra agent was aware of the existence of the tapper planted at the Hamilton residence. They then learned that the tapper was planted by one of the servants of the Hamilton family who had been bribed by the enemy.

But to make the careless enemies and Noxcra’s agents agree not to remove the bugs for a while they also did not immediately fire the traitor that harmed his family.

Hearing about this, Hugo kindly gave the man leave for three months. For outsiders, it was a gracious act from the Hamilton family, but of course, Hugo was not a benevolent man.

Hugo and Nocra’s agent agreed to put the man under supervision to see how far this servant was involved with the enemy and when the time came Hugo would sue the man for violating his family’s privacy and giving their information to a third without their consent which meant is a criminal charge that would put the man on jail at least three years.

Hugo the old fox was cunning and merciless, especially to the people who dared to betray him and hurt his family. But the downside is, they all have to live under the enemy monitor for a while. In order not to make Edmund’s wife, Marsha stressed Edmund sent her away on a luxurious cruise with her family for a few weeks untill everything was settled.

"So, something happened?" Hugo sat in his chair while rubbing his thumb which was slightly injured.

Lilly sat at Hugo’s desk and nodded, "Yes, Sean Lockwood is on the way to our house, he is very persistent!" Lilly’s face is a mixture of irritation and impatient.

Hugo rubbed his jaw then said: "Oh well, we can’t stop the storms that coming our way, but this might be a good thing for us, after all, we still don’t know who he works for, is it for the S.A.I.N.T. organization or Luxemborough?"

"What’s the difference? They’re both equally bad for me?" Lily said while propping her chin.

"Of course it’s different, it’s not like they will stick together forever, do you think their cooperation will last long? I dare to bet with all my money that when they get what they want, the beautiful cooperation between them will end faster than celebrity marriages" Hugo’s voice filled with scorn for both parties.

"Huh, I don’t know you pay attention to celebrity gossip" Lilly was genuinely surprised.

"Luxembourg and S.A.I.N.T. won’t have a good relationship for long, they know that once the Lucient family is gone they will turn on each other so fast, therefore they definitely won’t show all their cards to each other so if we know which side Sean is on we might be able to find what he card he had and use that against Luxembourg," Hugo smirked cunningly.

"But isn’t it hard to know that since they are after the same thing right now, so how are we supposed to know who he’s working with?" all this problem makes Lily fretful and peevish.

Hugo squints his eyes untill the wrinkles on his eyes become more apparent, "Really, I think you have a knack for that, it’s like when you want to know which side I’m on, yours or your father"

Lilly’s eyes widened soon after her eyes curved into beautiful crescents "Aaah...I think I know what I had to do" she smiled deviously like a little fox.

"I know you do," Hugo looked at the little girl in front of him proudly.

"But, Grandfather spoke of a goal. I don’t know what they gain by eliminating the Lucent family. As far as I know, the Lucent family has never interfered with the sovereignty of other countries, nor have they been interested in imposing their ideology and influence on other countries..."

Hugo lit his cigar, took a quick drag, and blew out the white smoke into the air with a somber expression.

"That sounds horrible and unfair!" Lilly was upset because she knew how kind and humble Lory was.

Since the first time they met, Lory treated her like a good friend and she never acted pompous to anyone not even to her servants, instead, Lory saved her many times without asking anything. If the entire Lucient family had a gentle soul like Lory, why would anyone have a heart to hurt them? It does not make sense!

"Fair? It’s never fair and the Lucients know it, but they still do what they need to do... they’ve always been, we’re lucky, though we don’t know for how long" Hugo smiled wryly.

Lilly finally understood where her grandfather’s cynicism came from after the war, but she couldn’t blame him. This world was sick but it was the only world they had.

Lilly placed her hand on her grandfather, "We can’t change the world but we can change ourselves, in these difficult times we will fight together with the Lucient family, we won’t stay idle this time, isn’t that right Grandpa?"

"No, we will not" Hugo patted Lily’s hands and his gloomy face was replaced with excitement "Did you know, your stupid brother finally made progress in N.I.M.S.? After all this time he eventually managed to create a weapon that would be comparable with Luxemborough’s weapon!"

Lilly raised her brows in surprise "Is that true, that idiot found a way to create a weapon to kill Bael?!" she shrills in joy.

"Yes, it will be released to the public soon. Hopefully, it will shake up Luxemborough’s arms sales." Hugo rubbed his jaw as he smiled slyly.

Lilly became very happy, her eyes sparkling as she said, "That’s great news!"

"Well, losing Ethan proved to be their biggest loss, so it’s no wonder they will use any means to find out Ethan’s whereabouts, so you have to be careful, Lily" Hugo gave a stern warning.

"Yes, I understand, Grandpa. Don’t worry. Noxcra agents are always looking after me. I don’t dare to do anything without their approval." Lily knew her abilities, so she didn’t dare to act rashly.

In the middle of their conversation, there was a knock on Hugo’s office door. Allen Alderton slowly opened the door and then announced the arrival of Sean Lockwood. "Excuse me, sir, Mr. Lockwood is here."

Lilly and Hugo exchanged glances for a moment. Lily’s expression became tense with nervousness.

"Are you ready, Lily?" Hugo reminded her to calm down.

Lilly closed her eyes then blew her cheeks to calm herself down after a while she opened her eyes and nodded "Yes, I’m ready!"

Hugo made sure Lily was okay before he let her go. "You go see her, I’ll catch up with you later, but make sure Eva is near you." Eva was one of the Noxcra agents sent to protect Lily. Not long after a girl in her mid-twenties with curly pink hair and fair skin with freckles around her nose appeared behind the door.

Her eyes were big and blue making her look like a sweet, innocent rabbit, but of course, it was just a ruse she used to make enemy let their guard down.

"Don’t worry Mr. Hamilton, Miss Hamilton will be safe with me" Eva’s voice was soft and tender almost innocent but Hugo could see the menace hiding behind those big blue eyes.

Having Someone like Eva around makes Hugo feel more at ease, "I leave my granddaughter’s care in your capable hands Miss Eva" Hugo said courteously.
