Chapter 1395: A Savage Man

Dove Island is a small island located in the southern part of Harland. It is said that, according to the story of the old residents of White Pearl, one day this island suddenly appeared mysteriously, making the local residents feel uneasy.

When reported to the central government, they immediately sent N.I.M.S. scientists and the King’s men to investigate the island. Unfortunately, something terrible happened that caused almost the entire team sent to the island to be wiped out, and only a few survivors managed to return.

That being said, King of Harland at that time sent his Archknight to investigate what really happened on the island.

The investigation reported a strange phenomenon that occurred on the island in the form of a thick fog that covered the entire island after sunset and disappeared at sunrise. Witnesses said the fog was so thick that you couldn’t even see your own palm, even though it was right in front of your face.

As a consequence, many of them died due to accidents before they were killed by the beast on the island. Therefore, to avoid this accident, the government built a special kind of lamp powered by fire crystals that not only guides people during the fog but also gives a protective shield.

"And that’s the summary of this island..." Leon said as he pulled his sword out of a strange-looking beast that looked like a pale alien with a bald head with a sunken face, and hollow eyes.

"Why is the appearance of thick fog on this island considered a strange phenomenon?" Zhao Li Xin wiped the beast’s blood from his sword.

"Oh... It’s because it’s not natural but instead coming from a place..."

"A place?" Zhao Li Xin was stunned.

"Yes, from there..." Leon pointed with his finger but because of the thick fog around them, it took a while before Zhao Li Xin could see what Leon was pointing at.

Only after they walked closer to the direction Leon pointed did Zhao Li Xin welcome by a wide cave entrance. Leon looked at Zhao Li Xin with a grin, "Welcome to the underground Dungeon."

"The fog is coming from inside the Underground Dungeon?" Zhao Li Xin’s interest instantly piqued.

"Yes, first let me remind you that another reason why this fog is strange is because the fog can affect a person’s mind. Like making you confused, anxious, paranoid, and such...overall, this fog makes people hallucinate, making you see and hear something that does not exist." All of a sudden, the orange crystal amulet necklaces they’re wearing shone, indicating something was trying to harm them.

"The amulet will protect us from the effects of the fog, make sure you don’t lose it," Leon warned Zhao Li Xin.

Zhao Li Xin touched the crystal amulet pendant he had just received from Leon, "Worry not, I will listen to your warning."

"It’s fine, I’m just doing my job!" Leon replied easily, "Cause if anything happens to you, I don’t know how to answer her Higness."

Out of nowhere, they heard a chuckle echoing around them like a boy’s laugh, but they knew it could not be human. Leon let out an annoyed sigh. "Why are there so many Cackled in this place?" he grumbled.

"So the beast we killed called Cackled?" Zhao Li Xin raised his eyebrows in amusement.

"Well, it makes sounds like cackling, right?" Leon said the obvious.

Zhao Li Xin chuckled as he shook his head, "Lory is right, you guys are not good at given names."

"What’s wrong with Cackled?"Leon asked him but before he could get an answer, dozens of pale, skinny beast jumped out of the mist baring its sharp little teeth, the ugly creatures swinging their claws wildly slicing the the layer of fog, still and all, they are no match for powerful opponent like Leon and Zhao Li Xin.

It didn’t take long for Leon and Zhao Li Xin to kill all the monsters, and they did it without breaking a sweat. The monster’s instinct to survive kicked in, knowing its opponent was too strong, the monster gradually retreated into the mist and disappeared.

"The good thing about monsters, they know when to surrender before losing the battle," Leon said.

Zhao Li Xin noticed the cave entrance lit by a dim stone lamp, his gaze then caught a signboard right before the entrance of the cave, and it said: ’Level S Dungeon, DO NOT ENTER!

"It was a sign made by the king’s men back then to stop gullible hunters or ignorant mercenaries and the like from entering this place, but it didn’t always work, sadly, some people were just born idiots." Leon tapped the sign while speaking in a mocking tone.

"Has Lory ever visited this place?" Zhao Li Xin felt an ominous feeling coming from the cave. It was then that Lory’s face flashed on his mind.

"Princess Lorient?" Leon’s brows furrowed, then he shook his head. "NOW! No matter how strong she is, she is still too young to handle a dungeon like this. Even if we let her and Prince Lucas explore many places to broaden their experience and hone their skills, it is only after our team investigates and calculates the risks of their destination because there is no way we will risked the life of the heir to the Kingdom, however, the Princess and Prince might not know about this."

Zhao Li Xin increasingly understands why Lory and her brother were allowed to explore the world with minimal security because it turns out that they were only given permission after everything was carefully planned by the kingdom higher up and perhaps on their journey, they continue correspond with Fargo and Harland are older and capable of taking on the responsibility.

If that’s so, now Lory’s story makes more sense.

Zhao Li Xin and Leon turned on the flashlights on their chests as they entered the cave, but the thick fog that enveloped them made it difficult for them to see the terrain inside the cave. However, that was not a problem for experienced people like Leon and Zhao Li Xin.

Zhao Li Xin closed his eyes, using Qi, he heightened his sense to reconnaissance the area around them, from there he could determine the width and depth of this cave within a radius of almost five hundred feet.

"This place is bigger than I thought," said Zhao Li Xin in a low tone, his eyes staring at the fog. "... draw your sword, something big is coming our way." At the same time, Zhao Li Xin took out his sword.

A moment later, they heard erosion moving closer to them and slowly around them. When the fog lifted slightly, they looked at the scale, but only just before disappearing behind the fog.

"Is that a snake?" Zhao Li Xin scowled as he spoke, for nothing he hated the most than a snake.

Leon’s muscles tensed. "No, this is a Slither." He clenched his fists, and suddenly the ground they were on rose.

Once they reached the higher ground, they got a better view of what creatures they were facing right now. In the middle of the mist, they saw a giant creature with an elongated body and hundreds of thin legs covered with small spikes.

The beast moves in slow movement, circling them as if trying to trap them.

"What kind of creature is that?" Zhao Li Xin was not affected, just disgusted by the beast’s appalling look.

"It is called a Slither, very rare and most of all, very deadly. The creature has no eyes, but it has a keen sense of smell and hearing, and another thing you need to pay attention to is the beast spikes. Because the beast could shoot its spikes from its legs like an arrow, you’d better be careful with it."

Just as Leon finished speaking, hundreds of sharp thorns suddenly shot towards them like arrows. Both Leon and Zhao Li Xing swung their swords to deflect the sharp thorns. Unable to injure its prey, the creature let out a furious screech.

"Sh*t, what a ugly foul!" Leon cursed.

"Do you know the beast’s weakness?" Zhao Li Xin asks.

Leon pondered for a moment, then said: "Fire! That beast is weak to fire!"

"Oh..." Zhao Li Xin smirked evilly, "What a coincidence..."

Zhao Li Xin thrust his sword into the ground, his eyes glinted dangerously, then he opened his arms, soon after purple flames engulfed his hands like a torch.

Zhao Li Xin jumped and then dived towards the beast like a falling comet. He then released a powerful hit to the beast with his palm, and the creature pushed sideways while shrieking in pain.

Leon watched from above with eyes brimmed with excitement. He had seen a glimpse of Zhao Li Xin’s power and heard Fargo comment about him. That being said, he is eager to see it more.

The beast shot its spikes at Zhao Li Xin’s gut. He moved swiftly, almost like dancing, as he dodged the attack, then he grabbed one of the beast’s legs then tore off the leg from its body.

Greenish blood splattered in the air as the beast screamed in pain. Zhao Li Xin was cold and impassive. The beast turned its head. It opens its mouth open up then showing rows of sharp teeth that fill the mouth till its throat.

Disgusted by the reek that smelled from the beast’s mouth, he threw the chop of leg into the beast’s mouth, causing the beast to choke on its own leg.

Leon watched from afar, feeling almost sorry for the beast, but what shocked him the most was how brutal Zhao Li Xin was; it being said, the man’s savagery is no less than the beast itself.

Leon chuckles and mutters with a helpless look, "Her higness, what kind of man did you find?" Leon stared at the fire released by Zhao Li Xin, then wondered why it looked familiar.
