Saturday mornings, were compulsory family breakfast in the Su house. Everyone had to be there, no matter what they were doing unless it was a matter of life or death.

For Scarlet, it was the first time she was seeing some of her siblings in over a week. Carolyn was at the top of this list, then Elroy and Beord.

There was a lot of chatter as everyone had stories to tell now that they had lives of their own.

Currently finishing up an story was Elroy who was recounting the tale about a brawl within the team ahead of a game.

Scarlet was munching on a piece of bacon from a pig that was raised on crystal water and herbs from the underworld. It was so delicious that she was only listening to half of whatever her brother was saying.

A small hand attempted to steal a piece of bacon and she slapped it lightly.

The unlucky victim of the slap, her sister Halley run their father and pouted.

"Scarlet.." he called her in a voice which sounded exhausted.

"No," she Scarlet replied.

Everyone had bacon, why was Halley stealing hers? Granted, theirs was different and not as delicious as hers but only she and Severus could tell the difference. And for some reason, Esong.

"That’s it Elroy, no more stories about busted noses and broken limbs. This is not dinner conversation, someone please save us from this horror show." Their mother complained.

After complaining, Mega bit into a blue berry muffin and quickly abandoned it.

Scarlet’s spidey senses tingled, why was her mother not in the mood for her favorite blue berry muffin?

"I am going to say what everyone is thinking here but shying away from asking. Why the heck is Markay bald? What happened to his hair?" Adler bellowed.

Markay with a new unusual look was sitting next to Carolyn, gouging himself on strawberry pancakes as if he was a starving beast.

Stroking Markay’s bald head with one hand while eating with the other Carolyn was unbothered about his new look.

She was about to bring a fork with coconut cake to her mouth when the question was asked and everyone looked at them.

"Nothing happened." she answered.

"Yeah, I am just trying something new." Markay claimed.

It seemed that none of them would be getting an answer to this question, not now anyway.

"I think it looks cool." Gregor pitched on.

Esong raised his eyebrows at the little boy and said, "Oh, you do."

Gregor nodded his head quickly.

"Do you want to try it out?" he asked the boy.

Gregor shook his head and covered his hair with his hands, smearing syrup from the pancakes on them.

Everyone laughed at Gregor, and he buried his face his pancakes, shoving them up his mouth quickly.

"Slow down, nobody is going to steal your food Greggy." Halley told him.

She tried to sound stern like Mega but came off sounding adorable, and this drew more laughter from everyone.

"Where have you been sleeping lately Beord?" their mother asked.

"Around." Beord answered.

He folded his arms and stared at their mother, that is all you are going to get out of me, his eyes said.

"He has a girlfriend." Elroy chimed in.

"Shut up Elroy." Beord said.

"Aah," Mega squealed, " Who.."

"Don’t even think about it mother." Beord told her. "I am saying nothing."

Cut off from asking the questions which were burning her like hot coals, Mega grabbed the muffin, took another bite and then closed her eyes as if it was bitter.

She put the rest of it down and downed some ginger tea to get rid of the taste in her mouth.

"Never mind Beord, what is going on with you, mother?" Fey raised her own curiosity.

"You have not touched your milk." Adler said.

"Or the scones." Fey added.

"And I saw you secretly drinking a nutrient solution while hiding." Beord spoke with equal wonder as his siblings.

Scarlet’s attention was drawn to this issue too and she turned her eyes to her parents. Their father was digging his fork in his scrambled eggs while their mother looked anywhere but at them.

"Oh no." Adler suddenly gasped and pointed at them. He stood up abruptly and his chair fell down to the floor.

The thud startled Illa who was sleeping and woke her up. The little one let out a high pitched wail that told everyone she was very upset about her sleep being interfered with so rudely.

"Calm down." Their father said.

Carolyn rushed to Illa and picked her up. She bounced the little one up and down but Illa was inconsolable.

"Give her to me." Scarlet held her hands out.

Illa was passed from Carolyn to Markay, him to Esong and Esong to Scarlet. The little one calmed down instantly and closed her eyes.

"I don’t get it, are my hands too rough?" In a puzzle Carolyn looked at her hands as she questioned the failure she experienced all the time when it came to comforting Illa.

Did her baby sister just dislike her?

"She has good taste in people, don’t sweat it." Scarlet replied smugly.

Adler banged on the table, drawing the attention of everyone to himself. "You guys should wake up and smell what’s going on. These two have broken their promise to us already."

He looked at their parents with accusing eyes.

"It was an accident." Dorian said.

Mega on the other hand pouted and crossed her arms defensively. "We are adults, we don’t have to explain ourselves to you."

"Oh no, no no no, absolutely not." Beord groaned and his head fell into his palms. "Seriously, what were you two thinking?"

One by one, the rest caught on and stared at the two parents like teenagers who had been caught doing mischief.

Of the people at the table, five were confused, Esong, Markay, Gregor, Justin and Halley.

What had they missed that was so important?

"I cannot believe that you are pregnant again!!!!" Fey exploded. "You just had a baby for gods sake mother."

"What were you thinking?’ Carolyn asked them, equally outraged as the others.

"Congratulations." Scarlet said sonorously.

While it was weird, their parents were not yet a hundred, if they wanted more children, that was their business. People that lived to three hundred years could reproduce till two hundred.

The others looked at Scarlet as if she was betraying them, and she simply shrugged.

What could they possibly do about it?

"I am not hungry anymore, breakfast is over." Their mother left the table and of course, their father followed. Her eyes were wet and reddish.

An uncomfortable silence and a feeling of guilt settled over the siblings. It was plain to see what their mother was going to do, she was going to cry!!

"See what you have done now. You guys just don’t know where to stick your noses and where to keep them out of. " Scarlet told them. "You made mother cry, does it please you? Are you feeling proud of yourselves?"
