Transmigrating to Modern Earth from the Future-Chapter 74: Level 30!
Chapter 74: Level 30!
As the day turned into night, Lumen found himself filled with mixed emotions. He cherished the time spent with his friends, the laughter they shared, and the camaraderie that had grown between them. But his unwavering goal to reach level 50 pulled at him like a relentless current, urging him to continue his solitary journey.
With a heavy heart, he bid his friends a mental farewell, knowing that they had their own path to follow. Qu Quan, Jake, and Will understood his decision and gave him their full support. Their parting was not marked by sadness but by a shared determination to reunite stronger and wiser.
As the morning sun painted the sky with hues of orange and pink, Lumen ventured deeper into the forested valley, his spear at the ready. The anticipation of what lay ahead filled him with both excitement and trepidation.
The hours passed and Lumen’s encounters with E tier beasts became more frequent and challenging. He moved with precision and grace, his spear a deadly extension of himself. Each battle tested his limits, pushing him to adapt and evolve both as a warrior, a mage and as a person.
Later on into the day, while navigating the dense undergrowth, Lumen detected the presence of a formidable pack of E tier beasts. Their size and ferocity were unlike anything he had faced before, and the odds were stacked against him. But he was undeterred.
With a deep breath, Lumen steeled himself for the battle that lay ahead. The forest echoed with the roars and growls of the beasts as they closed in on him, their eyes filled with hunger and aggression.
Lumen’s heart pounded in his chest as he faced the onslaught of the pack. His spear moved with lightning speed and precision, striking down one beast after another. The forest floor became a battleground, littered with the fallen.
His Fire Bolt not missing out on any of the action either as it opened up the battle for him, startling the whole pack of beasts when it landed right in the middle of them, exploding outwards and sending each one of them flying.
The pack’s leader, a massive and cunning creature, lunged at Lumen with a thunderous roar. Their clash was intense, a dance of power and strategy. Lumen’s every move was calculated, his reflexes honed to perfection.
He had to use every means offered to him except for his Warmage’s Unwavering Might skill to be able to fight back against this formidable enemy, the system informing him of the death of the level 34 leader.
With a final, decisive strike infused with his Fire Infusion spell, Lumen defeated the pack’s leader. The remaining beasts, disoriented and leaderless, scattered into the forest.
Breathing heavily, Lumen stood victorious amidst the carnage. His level had reached 30, even going straight to level 31 due to the accumulated experience of the pack leader and the four underlings he had slain, a testament to his unwavering determination and unmatched combat prowess. The forested valley, once a realm of danger and uncertainty, had become his domain.
As he caught his breath and wiped the sweat from his brow, Lumen knew that his journey was far from over. The mysteries of the tutorial world still eluded him, but he was one step closer to unlocking them.
He had finally become a step closer to his goal of level 50, and now upon reaching level 30, an opportunity he had long been waiting for had been presented to him once again.
[Ding! You have levelled up
Received +14 Intelligence, +14 Wisdom, + 13 Agility, + 12 Stamina, + 14 Strength, + 13 Endurance, + 10 Perception, +5 Unallocated stats.]
[Virtuous Warmage skills available.]
The third opportunity to choose a skill was presented to him, however this was his first after he had evolved to the E tier, and so his excitement was palpable as the list opened up to him.
[1. Professional digging (Rare) - A skill honed by many fossorial beasts to enhance their digging skills. Gains the ability to dig much faster, farther and deeper than one normally would. +100% digging speed, provides a minor affinity with rare ores, increasing the chance of finding them.]
Unamused with the first option, especially it being the direct upgrade of the previous option he had been presented with at level 20, he skipped over it as he considered it a joke for it to even be presented to him.
Maybe in the far future when he feels that he is too oversaturated with combat skills he might choose a utility skill like this, but right now in the tutorial he wouldn’t entertain the thought.
[2. Renowned Hunter’s Stealth (Heroic) - The pinnacle of all hunters, the Renowned Hunter pushed the Stealth skill all hunters were known for to a new height with his skills and talent. Incomparable to it’s Rare rank counterpart, the ability to erase one’s presence from the world is granted, completely hiding one’s aura, turning you invisible, hiding every aspect of you from the very world itself. The effects are limited and can only be effective on beings at maximum 2 evolutions higher than oneself, after that the risk comes where one can be discovered. The longer the skill is activated for, the longer the cooldown will be before one can use it again, with a maximum duration of 1 day.]
Lumen read through the description of this second skill and was quite frankly shocked at being offered a Heroic skill at only his third opportunity to choose a skill from the system, in fact he didn’t even think it was possible for Heroic skills to appear on this list but the evidence was right before him.
From what he had heard, so far the known ranks went like this:
Common -> Uncommon -> Rare -> Epic -> Heroic
They had failed to mention where Unique lay but Lumen already knew the answer to that, of course Unique rank skills lie outside of this system as they are set apart from the conventional skills.
He had only recently heard of the Heroic rank being the direct upgrade from the Epic rank from Will and Qu Quan who explained to him that someone in their camp had asked the system the ranking system during their question and answer session before the tutorial began, but the system only provided the ranks up until the Heroic rank, meaning Lumen was just offered the highest known rank skill.
As he read through it to the end, he realised that the cooldown system worked differently from that of other skills he owned. The system was even being quite benevolent with him in providing an example of how long the cooldown would be for a 1 hour period of activation, with him not being able to use it for a whole 24 hours before it was made available to him again.
With the ratio being 1:24 in terms of duration of the skill to cooldown, if he reached the maximum of 1 day he wouldn’t be able to use the skill again for another 24 days!
After finishing his thoughts on the skill, he continued reading on through the others but he doubted any of the succeeding three would be anywhere near as good as this one he had just been offered.
