Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 903: Do You Want to Rejoin the Army?
Chapter 903: Chapter 903: Do You Want to Rejoin the Army?
Xiang Yu didn’t know what had happened after he left. Hearing that someone was injured, he turned to Xiang Yu and asked, "What exactly happened?"
Wang Ze quickly recounted the events. Actually, he wasn’t on the scene, but the incident was so sensational in the city that the news kept reporting it. Moreover, one of Wang Ze’s brothers, who was present at the scene, told Wang Ze about what happened.
After listening, Xiang Yu nodded. It seemed that Gao Zhitao wasn’t so bad after all; he had actually risked his life to rush in.
Wang Ze and the others didn’t know that Xiang Yu had already been involved in the matter; they thought he was simply curious.
Little Xuan immediately said, "Brother, could the person who planted the bomb be Ren Baohe?"
Xiang Yu nodded and replied, "It’s him, but he won’t be planting bombs anymore."
Everyone exchanged glances when they heard this; they had already guessed Ren Baohe’s fate. Tie Zhuzi, however, hadn’t caught on, and asked doubtfully, "Why won’t he? Did he reform and turn good?"
Xiang Yu chuckled lightly and replied, "Zhuzi, you’re using idioms too now? He didn’t reform, he’s already gone to meet Buddha."
Tie Zhuzi thought for a while and then exclaimed in shock, "You mean he’s dead!"
Xiang Yu didn’t explain much to them and simply said he had to leave, heading outside.
Little Xuan and the others knew Xiang Yu had something to take care of, so they didn’t follow him. Just as Xiang Yu walked out, Long Wu entered carrying food.
From afar, Tie Zhuzi and the others had already smelled the aroma of the dishes; their mouths were almost watering.
"Where’s Xiang Yu?" Long Wu looked around after coming back and asked with a puzzled expression.
After what had happened, Xiang Yu’s status in her heart had risen even further.
"He said he had something to handle and left first. He also said not to follow him," Tie Zhuzi replied, his eyes fixed on the food on the table.
"Not to follow him?" Long Wu frowned.
Their group usually stayed close together, so now that Xiang Yu didn’t want them tagging along, might he be off seeing another woman?
Little Xuan figured Long Wu was overthinking it, so he explained, "Brother has a friend who got injured and is in the hospital. He went to visit him—it’s that injured cop from TV." freēwēbnovel.com
Long Wu merely smiled and didn’t say more.
After coming downstairs, Xiang Yu drove straight to the hospital. Although he didn’t have much friendship with Gao Zhitao, the other man had disarmed the bomb, after all.
Even though it was part of Gao Zhitao’s duty, Xiang Yu saw it as an act that had helped him personally.
Upon arriving at the hospital and asking about the room, Xiang Yu went upstairs and headed toward the ward. But before he reached the room, he was stopped by two soldiers standing outside.
"You can’t go in," one of the soldiers said sternly.
"I’m Gao Zhitao’s friend," Xiang Yu replied directly.
The two soldiers exchanged a look, and one of them went to report.
A few minutes later, an elder came out—this was Gao Zhitao’s grandfather, Gao Mantang.
When Gao Mantang saw Xiang Yu, he laughed heartily and said, "Let him through."
Gao Mantang had a good impression of Xiang Yu. This young man had dared to fight police officers in a police station, and after escaping, not a single incident came of it. Just based on that, Gao Mantang was quite fond of him.
"Hello!" Xiang Yu greeted Gao Mantang with a nod and a smile.
"Kid, not bad," Gao Mantang laughed openly, then gave Xiang Yu’s shoulder a hard pat.
Xiang Yu felt a little speechless; he had only met this old man once, yet now it seemed like they were old friends.
"Xiang Yu, Xiang Yu—is it you..." Someone began shouting from inside the room.
Gao Mantang hurriedly pulled Xiang Yu along into the room. Inside, Xiang Yu saw what looked like a mummy lying on the bed and frowned, asking, "What happened to you? How did you end up like this?"
"What do you think? Isn’t my look cool?" Gao Zhitao laughed cheerfully.
Xiang Yu merely shook his head and chuckled, not commenting.
"You came specifically to see me, didn’t you?" Gao Zhitao asked.
Xiang Yu nodded and said, "That’s right, I saw it on the news."
"Hmm, did you bring me anything?" Gao Zhitao glanced at Xiang Yu’s empty hands.
Xiang Yu: "..."
Seeing Xiang Yu standing there dumbfounded, Gao Zhitao sighed helplessly, "You people, really. Visiting patients and not even bringing anything along—a little fruit would’ve been nice."
Gao Mantang immediately intervened, "Alright, if you want fruit, I’ll send someone to buy some for you later."
Xiang Yu had been in such a hurry that he’d forgotten to bring a gift. At this moment, he gained a new impression of Gao Zhitao—this guy was undoubtedly a foodie.
"How’s your health now?" Xiang Yu asked.
"Not bad, although peeing is a bit troublesome," Gao Zhitao said with a grin, pointing to a tube not far away—apparently, it solved the problem.
Seeing that, Xiang Yu gave him a pitying look.
Gao Zhitao got flustered and glared, "Don’t get the wrong idea! My function is fine, alright? Just now, a little nurse came in, and I reacted."
Gao Mantang, seeing his grandson behaving so crudely, quickly cut in, "You’re Xiang Yu, right? What kind of work do you do now?"
Xiang Yu respected the old soldier immensely and replied with a smile, "I run a small business."
"What kind of business?" Gao Mantang pursued.
From the moment he set eyes on Xiang Yu, Gao Mantang could tell the young man had definitely been a soldier, and his physical condition marked him as no ordinary one.
"Just small stuff," Xiang Yu deflected, not wanting to elaborate.
Seeing this, Gao Mantang didn’t pry further and instead asked, "Would you consider returning to the army?"
The question stirred something in Xiang Yu’s heart. Truthfully, he missed military life. In the city, he could live freely and casually, but deep down, he knew this wasn’t where he truly belonged. The army was his real home.
Technically, he was still a soldier since his mission had brought him to the city.
But now, he wasn’t sure whether he still held the status of a soldier. When he had left the army, Commander Cao had privately told him that Xiang Yu’s identity was classified, known only to him and the Chief of Staff.
If Commander Cao wanted to erase Xiang Yu’s existence, all it would take was the use of a little authority. In other words, Xiang Yu couldn’t be certain his records even existed anymore. Commander Cao’s database was full of uncertainties.
Now, with Gao Mantang presenting the proposition to him, the temptation was strong.
Xiang Yu wanted to return to the military. His feelings for the army ran deep; his very soul was tied to it.
But he hesitated to leave behind his current brothers. Yet, he knew that even without him, they could all manage just fine.
Looking up at the elder before him, whose hair had grayed yet whose body remained robust, Xiang Yu asked, "You mean I could rejoin the army?"
Seeing Xiang Yu’s conflicted yet yearning eyes, Gao Mantang nodded and said, "That’s right. If you’re willing to return, you can enlist right now."
