Chapter 74: Dao of Oblivion

Jacob’s eyes underwent a breathtaking transformation. The royal blue color of his eyes had deepened into a more divine hue, as though miniature suns had been forged within his pupils.

Intricate rings of light revolved around the iris, each etched with ancient runes that shimmered like stars scattered across the cosmos. At the center lay a cross-shaped pupil of liquid gold, surrounded by countless faint specks of light resembling entire galaxies trapped within his gaze.

It felt as though he could see even more clearly than before, he immediately summoned a clone to get a good idea of what his eyes now looked like.

’Damn, that looks good! Really good.’ He mused.

When he got back to the small structure where Leon lived, he neglected to use the door as a passageway; he instead walked through the gaped hole that Lyra’s body left.

He found Light, Leon, and Xenia still laying on the floor, in the same state that he had left them.

He sat on a stood, unaware of what else to do. He had already used the Elixir of Alvira, and he was unable to allocate more than 5% of his immunity.

Only thing that was left was..

Just like that, another light bulb materialized above his head, he smacked his forehead in disappointment.

’How did I not think about it before? Stupid! stupid!’ He mused inwardly.

"System? The Dao of origin."

<Yes host?>

"The Dao of origin, it is the Dao that governs all things yes?"

<Affirmative, Host>

"Since that’s true; then it can affect the origin of anything..." Jacob said.

<The Dao of Origin is not a Dao of healing, it surpasses all healing Daos. Origin returns existence itself to its pristine beginning. Whether flesh, soul, foundation, or destiny, all things possess an origin. So long as that origin remained, restoration was possible.>

The system gave a short description of what the Dao of Origin encompasses, which brough Jacob to his final conclusion.

"All that being true, that means I can create a technique that will return this poison to its original state, before it was ever toxic.

But, instead of all that; since the Dao has evolved into the Dao of Creation and Oblivion, I can either create an antidote out of thin air, or just wipe the poison out of existence." He pondered out loud while casually strolling around the room.

Eventually he decided that he would wipe the poison out of existence, creating an antidote was a good option but if this poison still affected people, then the antidote would be useless as he might not be able to get it to all of them.

Destroying the poison meant that the effects of the poison would also cease to exist. So, in essence, he would most likely be healing thousands, if not millions of people in a single go.

’If I do this, then the world should expect nothing from me for the next thirty years.’ He joked, bending over and placing his palm over Xenia’s body.

His hand glowed with a gray hue as he held it over the sleeping woman. As a result of his newly upgraded eyes, he could see the toxins flowing freely throughout her body. He focused deeply on eliminating every trace of it, taking his time.

After a while, he was done. As soon as he destroyed the last trace, all three of them coughed loudly.

He helped them sit up against the wall while he sat on the stool.

"Wha—What... happened?" Leon asked in between coughs.

"The three of you were poisoned. Leon, that woman you spoke of... she came, she attacked me." Jacob responded with a straight face.

Xenia’s ears perked up the second she heard that Jacob was attacked, she immediately reached for her sword and pulled it out.

"Where is she!" The red haired woman inquired, her voice a bit throaty.

"Oh, don’t worry Xenia, I already took care of her."

In that moment Leon looked as though a burden was taken off his chest.

Light sat in the corner, still coughing. He snuck glances at Xenia, giving her a ’can’t you see I’m suffering’ look, but she only paid attention to Jacob.

"You took care of her?" Xenia asked, a confused look on her face. "Did you kill her?"

"No! Of course not, I just took her cultivation away, she won’t be causing any trouble for a very long time."

It was at that moment that Leon discovered the huge hole in the wall of his house.

"Oh! My! Heavens! I’m dead!" He exclaimed, standing up a little too quickly and wobbling over to the broken wall.

"Hey, why are you screaming so much? My ears are ringing!" Light questioned him, covering his ears.

"If you think the woman that attacked me is dangerous—multiply that by 10 and put a baton in its hand, that how dangerous my landlady is! Oh! Heavens! she’s going to kill my horses!—she’ll skin me alive!" Leon said, fear written all over his face.

"Is that what you’re worried about," Light chuckled, walking over to Leon and putting an arm around his shoulder, looking at the hole in the wall. "It’s not too bad. Trust me—once she sees my handsome face, she’ll let you off the hook."

Leon stared at him, not saying a word. He was lost for words at this point.

Light glanced back at Xenia, wondering if she was impressed by his words, but she still seemed to be fawning over Jacob.

He bit his nails. ’I have to do something to get her attention.’

"I’ll pay for the damages, it’s nothing." Jacob said finally.

Light immediately interjected. "No! I’ll pay!"

All three of them looked at him like he was crazy, but he didn’t care, he held his head high as he spoke.

"Do you have any money?" Jacob asked him.

"No, but I’ll work and make the money. I’m just as strong as anyone." Light responded.

’Once she sees I’m a hardworking man, she’ll definitely like me.’ The red haired young man thought.

The truth was that he had no idea of how to make the money, he only just hoped that someone would give him a job.
