Chapter 87: Heimdall

The building was much bigger once they had arrived, almost as huge as the Ironfell castle in size, although the compound was much larger in land mass.

The carriage trotted slowly towards the large brown gates that were guarded by two men wearing brown plate mail, a whistle around their necks.

They both raised their hands and blew their whistles simultaneously, almost as if they had practiced.

"State your business!" The one on the right yelled, bringing the carriage to a halt, the horses just snorted and began to chew at the tall grasses at their feet.

"I have the heir of Ironfell with me, I bring him to visit the Primarch!" Leon announced confidently, he stared straight up at the massive gate that stood between them and the huge building.

"The heir of Ironfell? We weren’t informed of his arrival." The one on the left spoke. Both men had an uncanny resemblance, their facial features were very similar, Leon could a only assume they were twins.

They started to walk towards the carriage, inspecting it slowly, as it was their job to do so. They moved silently as Leon watched them, the windows of the carriage were open, so there was nothing hidden within the carriage doors.

They caught a glance of the handsome looking young man possessing wavy white hair and sharp bluish-gold eyes. He looked unlike anything they had ever seen.

Still, they wouldn’t allow it to faze them so much, as they still were unsure of the reason why the heir of the Ironfell would show up at the gates of the Wutherhorn estate.

There were two other people in that carriage, a woman with long red hair, whom they couldn’t identify, and another young man who had red hair as well, his was of an even brighter shade.

The young man looked very familiar, but the one on the left just couldn’t make out where he had seen him.

It wasn’t until the young man looked in his direction.

"Rob?!" Light exclaimed, instantly recognizing the guard that stood at the window of the carriage, "Hey Rob! Remember me?!" Light was yelling now, a wide smile on his face.

The guard’s eyes widened as he recognized that mischievous wide smile on this strangers face. "Light!? Light Wutherhorn?!" Rob yelled.

"Yes! It’s me Rob! If you’re here, then that’s... Bob?!"

Light immediately moved to the other window.

Jacob and Xenia watched in half-surprise as this boy who seemed nervous not more than an hour ago was suddenly bubbly and full of life.

’He’s bipolar for sure.’ Jacob mused, wondering if bipolar disorder was a phenomenon that had been discovered in this world.

"But... how? How are you here. W—We thought you were dead!" Rob asked Light, his face wrought with confusion.

"Let us in and I’ll tell you all about it!" Light announced, the knowing smile still plastered across his face. He was back home, which meant all his Royal authority had returned to him in an instant.

Knowing that Light was of Wutherhorn blood, the brothers could not rescues his request at this time.

"Open the gate!" They both yelled in unison, they seemed to do everything in unison, maybe that was why they were hired.

As little kids, Rob and Bob were great fighters, and they always had that trait, one almost always seemed to know what the other was thinking. Light found that a little strange about them, but he also admired it, and was jealous about them.

Telepathic communication, who wouldn’t want to have that?

Once they were through the walls, they all jumped out of the carriage, with Light leading, he immediately put his arm around Rob, who became startled as they walked back towards the gate.

’He hasn’t changed even a little bit.’ Rob though rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"Where were you all this time? We all thought you died." Asked Bob, who joined them immediately.

"Um... so, funny story..." Light muttered, dragging them further away from the carriage, where Jacob and Xenia could no longer hear them.

Jacob stood with a commanding air around him, Xenia standing directly beside him, he looked up at the building.

It was tall, much taller than he expected, and it was so well maintained, as though it was built yesterday.

"Welcome to the Wutherhorn estate, Lord Ironfell. A sturdy man with a grey mustache and grey hair walked towards him, stretching his hand out for a handshake.

The man was wearing a black suit, suggesting he occupied a high position within the stronghold, possibly a butler.

"Thank you, Mr..." Jacob started, immediately realizing that he hadn’t gotten the man’s name.

"Heimdall." The man finished the sentence for him, shaking his hand firmly.

One thing Jacob noticed was that throughout the course of their meeting, this man had not opened his eyes once.

’Is he blind?’ Jacob thought to himself.

"Fortunately I’m not blind, My Lord." Heimdall replied to his thoughts, shocking Jacob a little, but the young man didn’t allow the surprise to show on his face.

"You can read my thoughts?" Jacob asked.

"Yes. my Lord, a skill I’ve possessed from the time of my birth."

Jacob already knew that having someone being able to read his thoughts meant that he won’t be able to carry out any of his plans effectively.

In the blink of an eye, he quickly made it impossible for Heimdall to read his thoughts.

It was at that moment that Jacob saw Heimdall’s eyes for the first time, the elderly man opened one eye, revealing his bright brown pupils.

’I can’t read his thoughts anymore, scary.’ Heimdall mused, but he decided to carry on.

"I hear you arrived with the long lost son of the Primarch." Heimdall said.

"Yes, we’re his guests, we found him in a really unpredictable situation and decided to escort him back home." Jacob replied with a smile, knowing that the man was now unable to read his mind brought him comfort.

"And you must be Xenia." Heimdall turned his closed eyes towards the woman who nodded.

Xenia was surprised that the man knew her name without her saying a word, but she just smiled blandly.

"You are welcome to the Wutherhorn estate once again, a suitable resting place will be prepared for you at once, please stay as long as you like." Heimdall welcomed them and turned his back to them, gesturing for them to follow him.

Jacob allowed Xenia to go first, as was ingrained into his brain from his past life, he was taught all the different ways of chivalry and how to be a gentleman.

He looked back at Light, who was still discussing with the guard men. Light immediately noticed them and ran after them.

"Wait Wait!" The young man shouted after them.

Heimdall didn’t seem to care so much about Light returning, by the man’s demeanor, he was interested in why the heir of Ironfell had come to the Wutherhorn estate.

According to the discussion he had with his grand father, the Ironfells and the Wutherhorns weren’t exactly best of friends, which made him question Heimdall’s hospitality.

Jacob had hoped to somehow change that relationship during this meeting, in any way possible,

But first of all, he would see what awaited him inside the tall building.
