"Different than the rest? What do you mean?" Light asked, curiousity flashed across his face as he listened eagerly.

"Well for starters, she doesn’t act like other girls. She just refused to be a lady, says she wants to be a warrior just like her father.

Secondly, she’s only six and she has already awakened, before her siblings. That dragon you handed to her, she’s had it since she was three, she’s held it close ever since." Vera explained with a serious expression on her face, one could tell that she was a little worried.

Yannick noticed her expression and reached out to hold her hand in consolation, forcing a smile out of her.

"Well I don’t see anything wrong with a girl being a warrior. Take Xenia for example, extremely strong—I’m unsure if I could even take her in a duel hahah." Light joked, but his message was still passed across to the couple who said nothing.

After a moment of silence, Yannick cleared his throat to break it, looking at Light in a more serious manner and leaning forward.

"I suspect you’ve seen the state of our father by now." Yannick expressed, he wasn’t one to leave important matters aside, no matter the occasion.

Light nodded in response, immediately understanding the tone that his brother spoke in.

"Unfortunately, it can’t be helped. That’s why I’m to take over as the new Primarch. My coronation is in a few days." Yannick dropped his monocle for the first time and rubbed the bridge of his nose, leaning back in his seat. "I trust you understand why this decision had to be made."

Vera stayed silent the whole time, she knew what her husband spoke about was a serious matter concerning his family, so it would be unwise to interrupt without caution.

"Yes I understand brother, why hasn’t a cure been found since then? Does it mean the tales of the cure for the dark plague are all false?" Light inquired.

"It’s beginning to look that way, our best alchemists have searched far and wide and yet nothing has been found. Every road turned out to be a dead end... I’m afraid father will be no more in a short while."

There was a short silence in the air, a quiet understanding between the two brothers. Even though Light had missed twelve years of this, the connection was still as strong as ever.

The sun had dipped below the horizon by now, and night was fast approaching. Light announced his departure as he slowly rose to his feet.

The couple understood immediately, not wanting to let him overstay at their place. They bade him goodbye, a firm handshake from his brother and a hug from his sister-in-law.

Before long, Light left the building with Clarissa and they were well on their way back to the main house.

"Clarissa." Light called out to her without even a glance in her direction.

"Yes. My Lord." She responded, her face was red with surprise. What did the young lord want to discuss at this hour, with two of them under the sunset alone.

"What do you know about the dark plague?" He asked her, looking up at the setting sun as the horse trotted along the clear path.

"All I know is that it’s dangerous, whoever gets infected is left no choice, or cure." She sounded sullen as she spoke to him, her mood instantly flipping from shock to sadness.

"You sound like you lost a loved one to the dark plague."

"My mother, heavens protect her soul. She was a kind woman." Clarissa responded, her words stopped, giving the impression that she didn’t wish to speak about the matter any longer.

Light was anything but insensitive, so he respected her unspoken wish.

"I’m sorry about your loss." He muttered.

"Thank you, my Lord."

They arrived at the main house shortly after nightfall, as soon as the doors opened Light moved as fast as humanly possible, over to the room where Jacob and Xenia resided.

In truth he had missed her a lot, her face, her smile, her curves, her huge swollen... he couldn’t even think about it. He just needed to see her again.

Jacob sat idly on the bed while Xenia cultivated in regular fashion in the floor, it was all she seemed to do for recreation, so Jacob didn’t interrupt.

He spent his time mostly abusing his new powers. It was unknown to Xenia what the young master was doing, and it wasn’t in her nature to pry.

As Jacob lay on the mattress, he would try to conjure up things from his old world using the Dao of Creation and oblivion.

He first materialized a ping pong bat and ball in his arms, and then he moved on to more difficult things. The shapes of these materials altered over and over, turning into anything that his mind could think of.

’I could do a lot of damage with this—a lot of good too, I could bring technology into this world.’ He mused as the latest and most expensive version of smartphones from his last life materialized in his grasp.

It was at that moment that they both heard a few knocks at the door.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

Neither of them was used to this erratic manner of knocking, so they knew it could be only one person.

An uncivilized, uncultured swine like...

"Xenia!" Light exclaimed as soon as the door swung open, going over to sit next to her on the floor as she didn’t move from her position.

"How was your first day back." Jacob inquired, shutting the door.

"Well it was filled with ups and downs, but believe me when I say, I fit back into my old life perfectly."

He stared at Xenia, she had on a silk dress that exploded a little of her cleavage now, which made him almost feral.

He had never seen her in anything other than her leather suit which covered her entire body.

"So tell us what happened." Jacob sat back on the mattress, playing with his elements now.

He weaved them perfectly, turning from earth, to sand, to fire, to water, to ice.

There was no one he didn’t have complete mastery over.

Light carefully narrated his day, he seemed visibly tired of all the moving around, but still they listened. Even Xenia had paused her cultivation to hear how his family received him.

After telling the story, there was silence in the room, he had just told them something he most likely shouldn’t have.

He saw them as friends, which is why he spilled all the details to them, he never saw Jacob and Xenia as the kind who would betray him. Especially after all they had done for him.

"Dark plague you say? For how long?" Jacob inquired, a serious look on his face.

"Apparently he’s been like this for two years, nobody knows what to do, they’ve been searching for a cure for years now, to no avail. I promised my mother I would find a cure, but I don’t even know where to start." Light admitted, hanging hus head in slight disappointment.

Jacob just looked at this boy.

This would be a perfect opportunity to forge a strong alliance with the Wutherhorns, something that even his grandfather was unable to do. He knew that opportunities like this only came once.

"Take me to him."
