Chapter 218: An Outrageous Offer

"Can you please stop being vague for once?" I demanded, feeling perplexed to the core and he sighed again.
"I didn’t trick you." He began and I let out a loud scoff, folding my arms in irritation.
"All of this is for something else entirely, you need to understand that." He continued and I let out a baffled laugh.
"How am I supposed to understand anything if you won’t actually explain them to me?" I demanded and he began to massage his forehead as if I was tiring him out.
"Andrian, please give me answers. I beg of you." I pleaded and he whipped his head around to pin me with an irritated look.
"You can refer to me as Valentino at this point since you and your mate now know my actual name." He offered, lips twitching and I felt so taken aback that I kept blinking at him a couple of times.
"Are you really working with Blaze father? So you really betrayed me from the very beginning?"
He shook his head firmly. "I can’t give you a lot of answers, but I’ll say this. No, I’m not working for Blaze’s father. Although, we do have a shared interest." He revealed and I blanched.
"And what’s that?" I demanded and he shrugged lazily.
"You." He responded flatly and I reared back, mouth falling open, disgust swirling within me. novelbuddy.cσ๓
"Relax, I don’t want you... not like that." He clarified as if reading my mind but that really didn’t change much, did it?
"What difference does that make? So, this whole time I really trusted the enemy. I should have known better." I whispered, staring at my feet and Andrian let out a scoff.
"The real enemy is your mate. I can’t believe you let that monster mark you, now you’ve gone ahead and ruin everything."
I glanced up at him as I spoke. "What has that got to do with anything? What do you need me for?" I questioned t he exhaled slowly.
"We need your magic." He responded flatly and I scoffed, a laugh bubbling out of me.
"’We’ as in, you and Blaze’s father, I’m guessing? So you really are working with him." I continued and he shook his head again.
"I’m not working with him. We happen to be partners, business partners. Obviously, he’s obviously on a higher hierarchy than I am, but we still have a bunch of things connecting us together." He explained, hands shoved deeply into his pockets.
"So you’re not working together to capture me... but you’re working on your own to capture me?" I asked and he hummed while nodding.
"Correct." He drawled and I let out an annoyed scoff.
"You want to capture me, for what?!" I demanded and he rolled his eyes like he was bored.
"To get your magic. I need it for something." He exasperatedly.
"For what? Why exactly do you need my magic?"
"To take over the entire realm of supernaturals." He explained and I reared back, gaping at him.
"You can’t possibly be serious. That makes no sense." I tell him, while trying to wonder if he was sane or not.
Taking over the supernatural realm? Yeah, he’s fucking psycho.
"Trust me, it didn’t make sense to anyone at first." He drawled out with a shake of his head.
"So this means you’ve people working with you?" I demanded, unable to believe my ears.
He nodded once again and I let out another scoff of disbelief.
"Just one more person." He confirmed.
"Who’s the person?" I asked and he shook his head.
"That’s a secret." He drawled and I threw my hands up.
"It’s Blaze’s father, isn’t it?" I hurled at him and he snorted.
"Why do you really believe I’d work with him on something like this? He’s not the one." He explained as I leaned against the locked door and sighed.
"So what’s happening next?" I demanded, already feeling fed up.
"Since you’re already mated–" He began but I cut him off.
"Wait, you didn’t get to explain what that has to do with anything." I reminded him.
"You see, now that you’re mated, it would be impossible for your magic to be retrieved like I planned on doing. So, that’s a hitch to our project." He massaged his forehead again and I blinked in confusion.
"I don’t even have access to my own magic, it’s locked away. Remember?!" I reminded him and he rolled his eyes.
"I’m aware of that, but I’ve also finally found a way to unlock it. However, now that you’re mated to that monster, it’s not gonna be possible any longer." He snapped out.
"What way did you find? Killing other people for my sake? Because I’ll pass. And besides, I’m never gonna work with you ever again. You’re a backstabber and I want nothing to do with you ever again."
"This is something that can benefit the two of us." I gritted out and I scowled in annoyance.
"Do you really think I’m that dumb to take your words for it again? You tricked me for months, you lied to my face over and over again. That means you can definitely do a lot more, and that’s scary. I don’t want any benefit from you any longer, I just want you to stay away from me." I breathed out and he crackled after a few moments.
"I didn’t like deceiving you, I just didn’t have any other choice. Believe me." He paused for a moment.
"Now, if you chose to join hands with me, you can take over the world, you know? You’d be the strongest being alive, and..."
I shook my head and held a hand out. "Your offer might have sounded nice to me if I was still gullible. But you’ve literally let it slip that you want to take my magic away from me, so how the hell is this gonna benefit me? I have no desire to work with you ever again, so please leave me alone. Now, please let me go."
I turned around and pulled on the doorknob and it surprisingly gave way. However, before I could pull it open, his next words made me grow rigid.
"What’s that kid name? Elio, isn’t it? He’s a cute little thing."
My entire body stiffened as I pushed the door close and whirled around to see him smirking.
"I’m not gonna force you to do anything, but I want you to understand that if you don’t cooperate, people around you are gonna suffer, and I’m gonna start off with Elio."
