Chapter 228: Face Off

Blaze’s pov

"Dead? Or... she got killed?" I echoed out after a few minutes, massaging my fingers against my forehead. Kendrick had a perplexed expression on as he slowly shrugged.

"I don’t know, man. We were just one day told that she was no more." He explained and I let out a frustrated exhale, feeling more lost and confused than I previously was.

"If she was a demon, how was my father able to marry her since he was a werewolf? And nobody objected?" I echoed out and once again, he shrugged.

"I’m not so sure about this to be honest, so I don’t know how to properly answer this question." He finally revealed and I sighed in irritation.

Beside me, Roy glanced up from his MacBook and spoke.

"Do you know what she looks like? Like, can you recognize her?" He asked and Kendrick nodded in response.

I let my thoughts carry me away while Roy began to dig deep, showing Kendrick various pictures every now and then, asking if he recognized every one of those women, and Kendrick kept responding negatively.

As they busied themselves with that, I was stuck wondering if my mother was indeed from a lineage of dark magic. If she indeed was, that would explain a bunch of things about me which I’ve bend confused about, for one.

"So far, I’ve not been able to find anyone going by that name, who’s also from a linage of dark magic." Roy finally broke the silence; pulling me out of my thoughts.

"You sure you told me the truth?" I demanded and he nodded firmly.

"Why am I unable to find anything?" Roy asked and Kendrick snorted. "I don’t know, man. Maybe because you’re shit at your job, or probably because a dark magic welder definitely wouldn’t include that in their bio, perhaps?"

I rolled my eyes, feeling extremely irritated as the headache behind my forehead swelled in waves.

"He does have a point. Perhaps we’d not find her online. If we want to find her, we’d have to go through the route of digging physically." He continued, fingers hovering across the keyboard while his eyes remained on me.

"Why are you even looking for her though? She’s dead." Kendrick broke the silence with that question, revealing just how dumb he is.

"That’s because we’re actually looking for where she came from, so that I can understand the other side of me." I snapped out in response and he huffed, flopping agsinst the couch behind him.

"I’ll call the boys, and we can fully start this project tonight. I’ll come up with a plan before then." Roy said as I got to my feet. He was back to typing away on his MacBook and I hummed as I reached down and patted his shoulders a little.

Even though it would seem like I didn’t even care about this topic from just looking at me, on the inside, I was consumed with panic and worry. If my mother is indeed what Kendrick claimed she was, it means if I get to find where she’s from, I can travel there and see if they can be able to explain what has been happening to me since I was born.

I had a feeling my father killed my mother, because that’s just something he could do. This whole time, I’ve harbored an intense amount of hate for him because of that. Although now that Kendrick had revealed that my mother and father got married, which means they must have been in love at some point, that made me began to wonder what it was that actually went down before I was born and immediately after I was born.

Jules’ pov

I could hear my heartbeat in my ears right now from how fast my heart was currently racing: my entire inside was clenched up with fear and I had literally completely stopped breathing.

Kai had a lazy grin plastered across his face. From his position behind the podium positioned in front of the classroom, he had a hand pointed at me all the way from there, and slowly, everyone’s eyes panned in my direction, right as Kai continued.

"Is anyone not curious about why he suddenly transferred to this school and how he never talks about his old school? Has anyone wondered if his previous school never even existed before." As Kai spoke, everyone’s eyes slowly began to widen and they soon began to mutter between each other.

As I stared at Kai, everything collapsed within my chest. I couldn’t believe what I was currently witnessing. He had told me yesterday that time was running out for me to make a decision, I couldn’t believe that he actually meant it when he said he might end up revealing my secret too.

"Is anyone comfortable with being in the same class with a liar? Someone who might even be faking their identity. I mean, is his name even Jules and is he actually a werewolf?" He continued

"Are you trying to say he’s faking his identity?" A voice rang through the classroom and everyone’s eyes panned sideways, falling on Taylor who was perched across a desk, hands folded around his chest.

I let out a low scoff of disbelief right as my eyes locked with his. If I had been unsure if he hated me or not, then this was all the proof that I needed. I felt extremely baffled right now, at a complete loss of words.

"I don’t know. I think we should ask him." Kai drawled with a huff, the side of his lips curving in a dark smirk and at once, the noise around me increased in waves as people began to ask me hundreds of questions at once.

The sound of the door opening made the entire noise die down in the next moment and I realized that Blaze had arrived. Relief intense and pure rushed through every inch of my insides that I might began to sob.

"That’s enough, Kai." Blaze breathed out, eyes never leaving mine for a second.

"Like hell I’m gonna listen to you. Wait, do you even know the secret? He’s hiding somewhere and he needs to come clean to everyone, including yourself! I’m only looking out for you." He snapped, voice sharp and unlike anything I’ve ever heard. The entire class, who didn’t even know that he was related to Blaze, did a double take along with me.

Blaze’s hands were deep in his pockets as he closed the distance between himself and Kai. He stopped in front of Kai and grasped his shirt, jerking him forward. His eyes were dark with anger as he growled out.

"You’ve forgotten the warning I gave you days ago?" His voice was menacing and a few students instantly grew uneasy.

Blaze motioned me over and I didn’t even know how I made my legs work, but I rose from my seat and walked up to him. He draped his second arm around my shoulder and pulled me forward, and Kai’s eyes filled with more anger as he glanced at me.

"You know what? You don’t need to be worried about me, because he already told me about this secret which you have the audacity to threaten him with today. Who gave you such audacity?" His voice was low this time so no one else could be able to hear. Kai spluttered for a few seconds and as I watched him, anger twisted around in my guts.

When Kai attempted saying something else, Blaze punched him right in the nose before shoving him backwards. Kai stumbled just as everyone gasped, including myself.

Blaze framed my face for a few seconds before ordering me to stay out of the way. And then he motioned for Kzi to come at him, promising him that he was gonna beat him to a pulp today.

"Fucking psychopath bully." Xander’s voice filled the class, he was standing at the doorway, regarding Blaze with a scowl.

"You’re one to talk, eh?" Blaze drawled with a laugh, right before motioning Xander over.

"Since I’m such a bully, how about you two saints face me? Losers would have to go on their knees and apologize to my mate, because your existence alone is causing him distress."

At once, everyone’s eyes were on me again and I wished the ground would open and swallow me up.

Xander scoffed as he approached Blaze. To my shock, he actually accepted the challenge, and then he went off to stand beside Kai, whose lower lip was busted.

They changed forward at the same time, but Blaze still managed to beat the two of them up. Crunching bones sounds made me keep flinching every now and then, and by the time the fight was over, both alphas were writhing on the ground.

Blaze grasped their hair and dragged them over to me, forcing them to a kneeling position right in front of me.

My mouth fell open as Blaze crouched beside them and forced them to apologize to me. Even while beaten up, Xander’s eyes were still blazing with an immense amount of anger and chills rolled down my spine as I averted my gaze.

This was definitely not how I predicted today going.
