HDXD: Omni Harem System-Chapter 48: Adam’s POV
Chapter 48: Adam’s POV
Adam soared through the dark sky, his black wings spread wide as he cut through the night like a phantom. The neon green glow of the Monster World’s sky illuminated his path; its eerie color mixed with the forest’s own hue of deep-rooted purple, giving everything in the surrounding a dreamlike quality.
Or a nightmare outlook was the better term here.
Because what lay ahead certainly wasn’t pretty.
But that aside, he had to admit one thing: that cry for help he had heard earlier was way off in the distance from where he initially was, but he was already near the source due to flying there instead of running.
Flap...Flap....Flap...Flap!!...
With each flap of his wings, his speed increased; in a way, his body treated all this first-hand experience as training.
As a result, he was a much better flyer than he was on his way here from the estate to the forest.
But all things considered, flying was convenient.
Not only did it allow him to travel faster, but it gave him a tactical advantage against potential threats. And knowing Minerva, this mission wouldn’t be as simple as just delivering a letter. She always had some hidden lesson behind everything she did.
However, he soon reached the place he wanted to be.
And as if to confirm that this was indeed the correct spot, despite the blatant show before his eyes, the System began to speak, as she said.
『There are two girls below, Master; one of them is in an intentional coma to save themselves from dying. The other is bleeding out and is poisoned』
"Hmm, yeah, that’s not good... but what the hell are those insect-like things... Superficial’s if I had to guess right?"
Adam asked as he looked just below him and saw hundreds, maybe thousands of them crowding two helpless young girls.
Naturally, the System began to explain, and it would seem, during his quick observation, she has already gathered information from her Archives, as she began to explain saying as such.
『Species identified: Antmen... Type: Bestia... Assessment: Extremely dangerous in large numbers but weak on their own』
That was the system’s assessment of them, and Adam replied by saying.
"I see... Uhh... Either way, I have always hated bugs. Well, the good news is, some good air pressure should be more than enough to deal with these guys... from there, I will save these two; they are clearly from the Ultima clan."
Said Adam as he narrowed his eyes.
His mission was simple: deliver the letter to Mewroar, the leader of the Ultima Clan. But something about this scene rubbed him the wrong way for some reason; he didn’t know why, but something felt extremely wrong.
But that aside, he had two girls to save.
As such, he flew towards them and didn’t stop until he was above the both of them.
Looking down at the two.
He noticed the two of them lay motionless in the dirt, their bodies torn and bloodied. Both of them had red hair; it was just that one had wolf ears and a cat tail, and the other had a pair of cat ears but a red colored wolf tail.
But features aside, they were heavily injured.
Seeing this, Adam sighed as he said.
"This world really is fucked up... I hate seeing children being tormented like this. ahhh... these ants really deserve a cruel end... I would torture them myself, but the situation calls for some serious crowd control."
Adam whispered to himself as he began descending upon the group, his feet pressing against the air as if it were solid ground, given that he made an air surface below his feet using Air magic.
From there, his gaze swept over the battlefield, and his lips pulled into a flat line.
From below, Kiera saw him descend, bathed in the eerie glow of the Monster world night sky and the Paffora forest’s natural violet hue on reality itself. His expression was unreadable, his posture unwavering. His wings cast a shadow over the carnage below. To her, he looked indifferent...like a being so far removed from mortal suffering that he didn’t even care.
But in reality, Adam was just really pissed off at the sigth of seeing two girls being injured like this, really and truly, he has too much of a soft spot for woman, then and agian he see himself as the literal idea of a harem protogonist.
He sees a woman, he folds, of course this does not mean he was completley hopeless, he knew better than anyone else, that some woman in this fucked world he now find himself in, are simply not worth it, hence not deserving of his love, nor his time.
With that thought in mind, however.
His gaze drifted across the battlefield, sizing up his enemies. There were... a lot of them. Hundreds of Antmen were chittering and screeching, their mandibles clacking together hungrily. Their black, chitinous bodies twitched in anticipation.
"Huh."
Adam muttered to himself as he got a better look at them. In that moment, a weird nostalgia hit him as he looked at these creatures, and said.
"Haa... for some reason, they look familar."
However, before he could ponder deeper, the System spoke once more, saying.
『Focus Master』
"Right, right... Let’s handle this before they get any ideas."
His expression didn’t change, but inside, he was already running calculations. The Bulgae had been a challenge, but these? These were insects. Dangerous, sure, but their individual strength was laughable.
Their advantage was in their numbers, and numbers alone.
And numbers meant nothing when faced with overwhelming firepower.
With that...
Adam raised his hand, and behind him, the sky shimmered. Thousands of silver-colored magic circles appeared, floating like celestial bodies. Their comple patterns pulsed with Astrum as they were being coded with the needed spirit language to be unleashed at its full lethality.
But first, before he unleashed his attack.
A new set of magic circles formed beneath the girls, a protective layer of multi-coded air barriers formed around them, ensuring no stray attacks would reach them. He didn’t want to accidentally turn them into mincemeat.
And right after that was done, he pointed at Antmen and unleashed his attack from above.
The first impact sent a shockwave through the battlefield. Invisible rods of air, compressed to extreme densities, slammed into the ground with the force of meteors.
The Antmen never stood a chance.
Their chitin cracked.
Bodies splattered.
Entire clusters were reduced to nothing more than smears on the dirt.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
One after another, the magic circles fired without rest.
It was a slaughter.
No flames, no flashy explosions, just raw, crushing force.
The ground split apart, a crater forming beneath the relentless barrage.
Minutes passed, more than he wanted, to be honest. He needed to hurry to those girls, but there was just so much of them that it took him longer to kill all of them, making him waste more time than intended, and then right after all of them die, pure silence blessed the battlefield.
That is to say that the battlefield was now unrecognizable.
Where once stood a sea of Antmen, now remained only twitching remains and shattered earth. A massive crater, 300 meters wide and just as deep, marked the site of Adam’s one-sided annihilation.
