Chapter 67: Beast

FWOOOSH!

The sound of Adam blitzing through the village was prominent.

As he traversed, he began to see the horrors of the village fall firsthand. Ultima Village, once a thriving settlement, had become a graveyard for its own inhabitants.

The traditional Japanese architecture...curved pagoda rooftops, wooden bridges, and stone lanterns...was now reduced to ash and rubble. The once-elegant paper lanterns, which had illuminated the night with warm golden hues, were torn and blackened, their glow long extinguished by the raging fires.

And then, there were the bodies all over.

"My God, this is bad... There are so many dead bodies everywhere, I don’t even see a single survivor. Sigh, I have to hurry... The destruction is far worse than I thought."

Said Adam, as he kept on running towards Keira’s location. The sight of the destruction, the smell of burning flesh and fur all invaded his over-sensitive senses, it was a horribe sight to behold.

"Ugh... it smells horrible."

He commented.

Every ground he covered, all he could see were the bodies of the dead.

Werewolves... Nekomatas... and Nekowolves alike.

But as Adam kept looking around, he noticed something weird. Something about the Nekowolf corpses was, how does he say this, rather weird.

Every single one was female looking, and those that were not looked like guys but with some female features.

"...Ha... are they...

He stopped to think a bit.

"...An all-female race... like the Nekomatas as well?"

He questioned the idea, however, he could not linger on it, so he didn’t.

Kiera was in danger, so his priority was saving her.

His glowing blue eyes snapped forward as he tore through the smoldering wreckage, dodging collapsed beams and broken rooftops as he went along., but for a village, this place was quite massive.

But as he goes along, he eventually reaches the source of her cries.

"Ahhh...stay away from me, you souless bastard."

Keira said as she struggled to free herself from the grips of a beast.

Adam looked on, and at the heart of the destruction stood a monstrous figure.

A werewolf, or that is what he thinks it is.

But whatever it was, it was horrifically malformed. The humanoid beast towered over the carnage, his body grotesquely malformed as if something inside him had rotted away and was being forcefully kept together. Chunks of his flesh were missing, exposing raw, pulsating muscle, while glowing red veins slithered beneath his torn skin like living parasites that spread in every corner of its body.

But there was one thing that stood out the most on this beast body.

His left eye was... weird because a plant was blooming out of it.

A crimson spider lily bloomed where his iris should have been, its petals eerily still despite the chaos around it.

But what made Adam’s blood turn ice cold was the emptiness in the beast’s face.

There was no hatred.

No rage.

No bloodthirst.

Only an empty expression, one that makes it loom more dead than alive, but given the malformed structure of its body, the werewolf was probably dead if Adam had to guess.

But before Adam could reach Keira in time, that was when it happened.

SHLKKK!

In that moment, the werewolf’s massive, rotting claws punched straight through Kiera’s tiny chest.

CRACK!!

"Ughaaa!!...

Her ribs shattered, and a painful cry escaped her mouth, and it dragged on as she could not breathe due to her lungs collapsing upon impact.

The sound of flesh tearing was also prominent as his hand moved through her chest in a slow motion.

SQUELCH.

The beast’s hand tore through her flesh like wet parchment, bursting out the other side slick with blood and viscera.

And the hand of the malformed beast was covered in blood, causing Keira’s body to jerk violently.

A strangled, gurgling gasp escaped her lips as a fountain of blood erupted from her mouth, splattering against the werewolf’s decayed flesh, and her eyes widened in horror.

For a moment, she didn’t understand what had happened. quickly, all the pain soon stopped. as she lost all feeling from the neck down.

For a moment, she tried to breathe...only for more blood to bubble up from her lips, choking her.

Her brain soon started to lose oxygen, and her eyes started to close.

Adam saw everything.

"...KEIRA!!...

He shouted as he moved extremely fast towards the enemy.

"YOU BASTARD!"

His rage was prominent at that moment.

And in the next instant, his body moved on instinct.

FWOOOM!

Black feathers erupted from his back as his feline form morphed mid-air, twisting and expanding back into his human shape. His feet barely touched the ground before his wings flared, launching him forward like a dark missile.

His eyes locked onto something on the malformed beast as he readied to attack.

Which was the beast’s weak point.

A purple glow radiated from the spider lily that bloomed from the beast eye, alongside it a number floated above it head, from Adam point of view he saw a timer saying 3 minutes.

That was all the time it had left to kill this thing.

Although he needed less than that to actually finish it.

His feathers responded as he approached to attack and kill.

They swirled around his arm, shifting, twisting, merging, until they forged a weapon. A sword of countless razor-thin black plumes.

Adam didn’t hesitate.

With an uneven flap of his wings, his body sped up more, as he lurched forward at blinding speed, his blade arcing toward the beast’s eye like a falling comet from above.

SHLK!

What happened next sealed the deal, as a stabbing sound echoed in the area.

And the moment it did...

"MREEEEEEEEEEEE!!....

A horrific, inhuman shriek tore through the burning ruins of the village, sending out a shockwave that rattled the very air. The flower embedded in the beast’s socket convulsed violently, its petals shriveling, its veins blackening.

But it was already over.

Adam’s Authority of War had activated.

The right and power of a monarch was displayed in that moment.

The moment his feathers struck the weak point, his power took hold, rewriting the very essence of the beast’s existence. Every living thing inside it simply stopped. Its soul vanished, fading into nothingness. In an instant, every cell withered, every function shut down. There was no struggle, no trace left behind... just true death, and not death that will carry you to some afterlife. No...rather it was death that erased you from the cycle of life altogether.
