Chapter 34: A second meeting.

"My lord summons you," the man on the horse said, a red scarf curled around his neck.

Behind him were three other men, looking less friendly than the one in front.

Jared, on the other hand, barely got any time to respond when Lucy, Kiara, and William already stationed themselves before him, acting like his shield.

’Ahh, these people...’ Jared shook his head, and then turned his attention to the man wearing the red scarf.

’So Olsen didn’t send his strongest soldier to get me? That means he most likely already thinks I won’t fight back, or he is making his moves carefully,’ Jared thought to himself. ’Honestly, it works for me, I needed to speak to him anyway.’

Jared, hands stretching out of their human wall before him, managed to slip past and took a few steps forward towards Johan.

"Lord Jared, be careful..." Lucy was worried, her hand reaching to the side as if ready to summon her blade.

William already had his spear with him; any suspicious move from the opposition, and he was ready to attack.

Kiara, well...she was just happy to be there.

When measured against other lower star ranks, one wouldn’t consider her weak, especially with her exceptional hunting skills.

But in the face of people with higher ranks, she wouldn’t measure close.

"Are you willing to comply?" asked Johan, his voice filled with coldness.

"Sure, of course," Jared replied.

His colleagues were shocked by his response.

"Very good, you seem wise. We have brought a horse for you to take," said Johan.

Snapping his fingers, one of the men behind him, also riding a horse, moved forward, dragging a lone horse beside him. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"Wow, you came prepared," Jared teased with one hand on his waist, knowing damn well his village doesn’t have any horses to begin with.

"Shall we get going?"

Jared turned around, about to offer his words to his people as he always does.

Pointing at Kiara, he uttered, "You, you’re coming with me."

"H... hia," Kiara couldn’t decide whether to be happy she was going somewhere with Jared or worried she was about to meet again with the man who abducted her once.

"Same goes for you too, Lucy. William will stay behind to watch over the village. Leaving the village unattended wouldn’t be a wise move."

Judging from the expression on William’s face, it was clear he didn’t fully agree with it.

William leaned forward, his mouth close to Jared’s ear.

"My lord, I don’t trust these people. Do you really have to go? We don’t have to listen to what they want anymore. We are stronger," he whispered.

To which Jared gave a short laugh and then tapped him on the shoulder.

"Strength isn’t always about combat, William. Always think to yourself, how can I exploit my enemies. That...is true strength."

As he whispered back, Jared turned around and headed towards the horse, leaving William standing there, pondering what his lord had just told him.

A few moments later, Jared and his women had climbed the horses and were trailing behind the people who had come to summon them.

Sigh!

William gave a designated sigh as he spun his spear and placed it on his shoulder.

"Sometimes, I really wonder what goes on in my lord’s head. Oh right, I should inform Lady Ria about the farm."

He walked into the village.

Meanwhile, it took quite a long time for Jared to arrive at Ragoon village.

From a far distance, one could already see the huge green flag stretching far into the sky. Apparently, the flag was placed at the center of the village as a way for people to find their way.

Since the village was closer to the northern borders, most people tend to get lost in the vast land of very few villages and people.

As such, the flag always came in handy for foreigners.

Reaching the village, Jared and the others were somewhat impressed by what they were seeing.

It was big, maybe even bigger than Sikone village, having buildings made from wood and hay. Trees surrounded the place, making it feel like it was nature’s abode.

As their horses rode into the village, stares of the citizens followed.

It was a crowded area, with people setting up stalls and stores for trade, and others, seemingly merchants from other villages, coming in to export goods outside.

Hard to admit, but Jared knew Olsen ran a good village, one built on trade and transport.

Moments later, Jared was soon to meet face-to-face with the man who had called for him.

Olsen Yaihha.

Throughout the journey, rather, ever since he saw Ragoon village, Jared had had a blank expression on his face.

Even after he entered Olsen’s house, which was no different from a mansion, a wooden mansion, Jared did not change his expression.

Now seated on the chair in the guest room, with Kiara and Lucy beside him, Jared waited for Olsen to arrive so they could have their discussion.

The more he looked around the room to see fancy items, the more Jared kept his face neutral.

"Lord Jared...this place looks very nice. How are the buildings different from ours? I didn’t know houses could get this big. Did you?"

Lucy whispered into Jared’s ear while looking around like a kid who just entered a new world.

"It’s a building, Lucy, don’t embarrass yourself," Jared replied.

"B-but, look, the ground isn’t cold or hard, what is it made of?" Lucy leaned even closer.

"I think it’s made of wood too. Trust me, I was surprised at first too. Just wait till you see the bed here, I almost didn’t want to leave," Kiara whispered at the side, making sure the guards standing at the entrance of the door didn’t hear her.

"Really? How different did it look? Ohhh~ how different is it?" Lucy couldn’t hide her interest.

’I should have come alone,’ Jared sighed internally, finding the urge to give the two girls a slap from both sides.

Suddenly...

"You actually came, welcome, I’ve been waiting for you."

Olsen’s voice echoed.
