Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1112. Dreamscape
Chapter 1112. Dreamscape
"You guys... don't happen to have a colleague named Luvlyn, do you?" Anna asked. Their abilities reminded her of that woman capable of pulling people into a dreamscape.
Luvlyn was the reason Anna ended up having two fleshly bodies that ultimately allowed her to survive the IMF's ambush.
The faceless two lift their heads in surprise.
They hadn't responded, but Anna instantly knew that she had guessed correctly.
They were in league with Luvlyn. They all had the ability to manipulate dreams.
Anna deduced that they were inside their dreamscape. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense how the Shattered God was still alive despite its grievous injuries.
Now that she knew the trio's true nature, everything became much easier. Their special ability was powerful, but it was incredibly easy to counter.
Anna revealed a sweet smile. With a slight tilt of her head, a huge steamroller came crashing down toward the trio. Since this was a dream, anything was possible here.
Before the steamroller could land, it transformed into colorful butterflies fluttering away in all directions.
Anna's imaginary attack was ineffective against them. After all, she was in their dreamscape.
The two looked down and found Anna crouched on the ground. She was using her own blood to draw something on the ground. Anna drew frantically and quickly; before they could stop her, the array was complete.
It was a bizarre array containing concentric circles with an inverted triangle inside of them, and the spaces between the circles were filled with cuneiform lines of varying sizes.
"Iilth ...vwah! uhn'agth fhssh za!!" The incantation sounded like a rapid tongue-twister, but Anna displayed extreme fluency in it. As she chanted, the blood on the floor started to coagulate and turn black.
Anna had experience against someone like the two figures before her. Thanks to her prior experience, dealing with someone like them again was a piece of cake.
To break free from their dreamscape, one only needed to summon Edikth.
Although He could not be summoned to the surface world, His presence could be brought out. The presence of the mysterious god would contaminate their dreamscape and, in turn, contaminate the owners of the dreamscape themselves.
A peculiar aura began to emanate from the array. The two tried to erase it from the dreamscape, but the two faceless individuals ended up clutching their heads with both hands.
The surrounding terrain changed drastically.
The factory and the earth beneath it cracked open, transforming into a huge valley. Deep rumbling noises echoed as the high cliffs on both sides moved toward Anna.
Unfortunately, the dreamscape was no longer under their control. It was like Anna was wrapped in an insulating bubble. Nothing could affect her.
The chanting grew louder and louder, and a crisp noise echoed as Anna's emaciated figure bent at an impossible angle. Her mouth spewed incomprehensible and bizarre words, and she chanted while grinning as widely as she could until the corners of her mouth were torn open.
She had fallen into a reverie.
As Anna's chanting reached a crescendo, the hearts of everyone present were engulfed by fear. They could sense the presence of something terrifying; the dreamscape was about to become a horrifying nightmare.
The two wanted to run, but it was too late.
A god's aura had contaminated their dreamscape.
"KYTH ag'xig yyg'far IIQAATH ONGG!!" Anna roared, and the two faceless figures disintegrated. In the end, their heads exploded.
As soon as they disappeared, the sense of incongruity vanished, but their surroundings hadn't reverted to their original state. Instead, everything that had transpired in the dreamscape became real.
The terrain changed drastically; the Shattered God's factory was no more; and the flat, expansive forest was split into two towering mountains. Anna and everyone else found themselves standing between the two mountains.
The moist, healthy soil beneath their feet had been stripped away, exposing the hard rock at the bottom.
Edikth had transformed what was supposed to be a dream into reality.
Fortunately, the dreamscape had occurred right where they were standing instead of somewhere else. Anna and the others didn't find a duplicate fleshly body.
Before everyone could react, Tobba's voice echoed throughout the valley. "Anna, look! That pile of scrap metal is trying to escape."
Everyone followed Tobba's finger, and they saw the Shattered God desperately shaking away with its followers following closely behind it.
Knowing that it wasn't Anna's match, the Shattered God immediately made the best choice possible.
Unfortunately, escape was futile. Before it could attempt to take shelter in the depths of the two mountains, several green fireballs flew toward it.
It frantically launched missiles to stop the green fireballs, but it was meaningless.
In the end, the Shattered God was reduced to a burning hunk of metal. It looked like an erupting volcano as green flames burst out of its figure, splattering into the air.
The green flames landed on its followers, but the half-human, half-mechanical beings didn't make any effort to dodge. Instead, they pounced on the Shattered God and tried their best to extinguish the green flames on their god's divine body.
When Anna finally caught up to the Shattered God, all of its followers had already been reduced to a pile of ashes.
The traitor was dead, but Anna didn't feel like she had avenged herself. She felt like she had just completed a mundane task.
Of course, she didn't really have the luxury of time to celebrate or reminisce about the Shattered God's betrayal. One of the trio had escaped, and she had to capture him before he could spread the news of her resurrection.
Anna was confused as to why the Shattered God hadn't been hiding from the IMF as well as why it was staying in such a remote place. Now, it was clear that the Shattered God had a reason for meeting up with the trio whose origins were still unknown.
"High Priestess, how are we going to find him?" Jackal asked, staring at the gray, dense forest up ahead with a grim face. "I don't believe we can find him like this." freewёbnoνel.com
It would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. The background of the trio was unknown, but if he ended up revealing the truth to the IMF, the consequences would be catastrophic.
"Don't worry, we'll find him." Anna reached into her pocket and pulled out a translucent conch.
The bright yellow dextral conch was beautiful. The shell contained what looked like a black substance that would sometimes converge and separate, but despite its changes, one thing remained the same—the dot inside it. The dot was unaffected by the changes and was moving toward the edge of the conch.
"That's..." The others gathered around in surprise. They had been by Anna's side for quite some time now, but they had never seen her use such a thing.
The corner of Anna's mouth curled up, revealing a smug smile. "This is a brand-new Anomaly that I imagined earlier. There's no way he can escape when I have this."
Anna had already thought about what was going to happen next and decided to prepare for it.
Edikth's presence could make things in the dreamscape come true, and everything in the dream could be imagined. Since that was the case, why not imagine a tracking Anomaly?
