Chapter 89: Homecoming

Light looked at his father repeatedly, he could not believe the man who now lay on that sick bed was once a huge, bulky man that exuded a massive aura wherever he went.

"What about my brothers?" Light asked as he refrained from grabbing his father’s hand. Even though as a child, this man had never shown any affection towards him, he still felt a strong connection to him.

"Yannick got married to the Duchess of Khalarnis, he’s in line to succeed your father as the Primarch. Jonathan is now the General of the Wutherhorn army, he’s married to the second daughter of the king of Zethurne, Amylis. Randolph and Eron have decided to do nothing significant with their lives except party and frolick with the maidens of this estate.

As for Zion, Alfred and Christopher, I rarely see them anymore. They’re always on one hunting expedition or the other." Light’s mother responded, her eyes were swollen from crying so much. The usual ethereal glow she had about her, the one Light always saw as a child, has started to fade.

It was very clear that his father’s situation was getting to her strongly.

"What are the alchemist’s saying about his condition?" Light asked again, he had a serious expression on his face.

"They say it’s safe to let go of him as soon as possible. The dark plague unfortunately does not have a cure." She said, bursting into tears for the umpteenth time.

Light felt bad, he didn’t know how to salvage the system, or what to do. He had been gone for so long, and unfortunately he hadn’t learned much about the dark plague because he never thought it was something he would have to worry about.

"I’ll find a cure." He muttered in a low tone.

"What did you say, my son?" She asked, looking up at him with swollen, tear-filled eyes.

"I said I’ll find a cure, I’m back now, and I’m definitely going to find a way to cure him of this plague." Light announced indignantly, he never knew where to start, but he had heard stories of people being cured of this plague. Even if he would have to go to the ends of the world, he would do it

His mother just nodded sheepishly, and went back to his father’s side.

He couldn’t tell if she believed him or not, and it bothered him, but it would be better not to say too much, he would only show his competence and not speak much of it.

"The maids will draw you a warm bath, change your clothes, and look for your brothers." His mother requested.

Light immediately turned to walk out of the room, he was led by a young maiden, very small in size, she held a white towel in one hand and guided him up the stairs.

He glanced in the direction where Jacob and Xenia’s room was, he decided to visit them later on, after he was done with his brothers.

"Here’s your room my Lord." The short maiden stopped at a large golden door, it had several designs on it.

"Thank you Clarissa." Light thanked her and walked in first. It was just as he remembered, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

Nothing was touched, as expected, he knew his mother would never allow anybody trash his room or take his things.

He ran his hand over the bed frame, still as pristine as he left it. The walls looked as though they had been painted the day before.

The tables, the chairs, everything looked brand new, even after twelve years. It almost brought tears to his eyes thinking about laying down on that soft mattress once again.

Even though it was understandable as to why he ran away as a child, being out in the world made him miss luxury so much. He swore under his breath that he would never forsake a luxurious life again, unless it was to save his family.

"That will be all, Clarissa." He said, grabbing the towel from the maiden who stood, watching him as he admired his room decor. She turned her back and left the room at once.

’Now it’s time to take a shower like a king." He immediately pulled his clothes off and stepped into the restroom. It was a big space, as big as he remembered, even wider than the interior of Jacob’s carriage.

He took his time washing himself, determined to get all the stink of the Forest off his body, he scrubbed and scrubbed. It was almost an hour before he finally came out, he looked at himself in the mirror, feeling like he had shapeshifted in less than an hour.

He looked so clean, his hair was less frizzy now after using the Royal shampoo and conditioner that was kept for him. His skin was without blemish.

"That’s right Light, now this.. this is what you should look like." He said to himself, he just couldn’t help but admire. It had been a long time since he had the luxury of admiring his handsomeness in a mirror this wide.

He took his time selecting clothes. He suddenly felt as though he had all the time in the world, with no one, or monsters to disturb his peace.

He eventually got dressed. He had grown really fond of the color black in his time away, so just like he was when he came, he wore a perfumed, black, two piece outfit.

He noticed a small red box with gold adornment on it, he figured since it was in his room, it had to belong to him.

He slowly opened it, revealing a set of golden jewelry, he had no knowedge or information of this jewelry, but they looked to good not to try on.

He quickly put on the necklace, the earrings, the bracelets and the rings.

All that was left was the wristwatch, as soon as he put it on he felt as though the outfit was complete.

"Hm, black and gold definitely looks good on me." He said out loud as he flexed in front of the mirror once again.

"Now to go meet those snotty boys, I’m sure they won’t be too happy to see me. But who cares... definitely not me, hahah." He chuckled as he walked towards the door.

"Would you like to visit Lord Yannick now?" Clarissa asked immediately he opened the door, she stood there the whole time he was freshening up like a guard on duty.

But this didn’t surprise Light, the maidens had always done this, it made it easier for the Lords and Ladies of the house to access them whenever needed.

"Yes please, take me to his room, I’m no longer familiar with the map of this estate, you see."

"That’s fine my Lord, I’ll guide you there at once." She bowed her head and began walking in the direction of his eldest brother’s house.

Light felt a little bit nervous to see his brothers again, but he knew there was no reason to, since he was strong now.

He felt a dose of adrenaline wash over him, he was particularly eager to see if anyone of them had grown strong enough to beat him in a duel.

He was here to stay so he would find out in a little while.
